I'm quite sure it will sell both well and quickly, but will it sell faster than a Halo or Call of Duty title? Nope.

I'll never understand why people make polls with "I dont care" in them.... pointless to say the least. A simple yes or no would suffice in most cases and I'm sure its not hard to imagine that TES fans dont care what CoD players are buying

It doesnt appeal to any other gamers but RPG'ers. I got my friend to try and play oblivion, but he didnt like it. So unless theres alot of scary moments, violence with guns, football, or any other sports it wont hit any record. Although it'll hit my record :hubbahubba:

RPGs dont appeal to the mainstream gamer as much as straight generic eye candy FPS games do. Perhaps if this game is considered eye candy, Bethesda will be known for making great looking games, which may build the sales for future games.

EDIT: I don't mean to say that they make bad looking games. I'm just saying the graphics aren't up to par with other large scale games like Just Cause 2(PC) or Crysis (PC)

It'll sell well, and probably very well for an RPG, but I highly doubt it'll take the top spot from CoD, simply because CoD appeals to a wider audience.

That said, as long as Bethesda makes it an amazing game, I could care less if no one outside of me and most of my favorite modders bought the game. And maybe some of the regulars on the forum, so I'd have people to talk about the game to. But I guess if that happened, we probably wouldn't get a TES VI. :P

It will sell extremely well, but it definitely won't beat CoD.

I believe it will be the top selling RPG game for both consoles. Although for computer it has some competition. But it might strike a hit.

We're not allowed to talk about politics here. Just gonna throw that out there before this takes over the thread.

Unfortunately, with the limited attention spans of most gamers, people these days often can't handle a game a deep as the Elder Scrolls. If there aren't explosions and nudity going on every five seconds, many gamers get bored.

So TES 5 will do very, very well, and be considered a smashing success, but ultimately games like Call of Duty Black Ops will continue to dominate the gaming landscape in terms of pure sales figures.

Oh, you mean Bush's "Dine and Dash" economy? Got ya.

Anyway, there is absolutely no chance in hell that Skyrim will even come close to breaking any record, aside from perhaps being the best selling Elder Scrolls game.

A little perspective on the matter: Call of Duty: Black Ops sold 5.6 million copies in 24 hours. Oblivion sold 3 million units in its first 8 months. It would be highly irrational to think Skyrim has any chance to come even somewhat close to those numbers... as irrational as blaming Obama for the economy :). Yes, the argument can be made that the Fallout games sold a lot better then Oblivion did and that they were basically professional mods for Oblivion... but they appealed to a far larger crowd then The Elder Scrolls does. So to be totally honest, I don't see Skyrim out selling Fallout 3... baring one hell of a marketing push by Bethesda.

As long as IW and Treyarch keep rehashing the same CoD every year, then no it won't.
