I'm about to buy a SSD, not only because of Oblivion. But I reckon the file (textures etc.) loading/streaming should improve quite a bit and any loading stutter should diminish to a degree. Sidenote: I'm already using Stutter Remover, Pyffie-fication etc. and my game doesn't stutter that much. I'm quite happy as is, I'm just thinking that an SSD might give it another little notch of improvement?
Maybe I should mention that I still have WinXP 32-bit on my Oblivion PC, and I don't really want to go to Win7 on this one.
I understand there is some TRIM function in Win7 which is good to have if you have a SSD. So I'm wondering if an SSD under WinXP is suffering any performance degradation over time? I admit I am not really well educated on this SSD thing. Please kindly bear with me.
Thanks so much for your comments and insights.
