Low fps - steam GOTY - GTX580

Hello. I have an issue with low fps with steam oblivion since installing my new GTX 580. I upgraded from a HD5870 averaging 60+ fps. I am about to reinstall using the steam version of GOTY or buy Disc. I did not install steam to c\ I instead installed \programs(86) where I have read could cause conflicts. So I might try reinstalling steam version someplace other than that.

When I had the 5870 installed I was running FCOM and QTP3 along with patches. I had no issues with the game crashing or graphics otherwise. I OMOD all mods except for a few I use BAIN for. I archive invalidate, run Teslodgen and batch patch. Again, never had a graphic issue with 5870. I was also using some OBSE mods such as stutter reducer, OBGE(for sharada etc).

I have a I7 920 overclocked to 3.8 Ghz stable. EVGA X58 Classified Mobo. 12 Gbs of Mushkin Redline Ram. GTX 580 stock(will OC later). 1.5 Tb main HDD. Liquid cooling. CPU will max under P95 at 60c under full load. I have the latest drivers from NVIDIA. My BIOS is up to date. I run Win7 64 bit.

I use to get about 70 fps in BF2bad Company now with the GTX580 I get 120+. I have not ran futuremark yet but have played a few steam games and non steam games and they all have seen significant increases in fps. I use Afterburner to track my FPS and core/memory speeds in game. My core and memory speeds are increasing in game as they should.

So I installed the 580 and loaded my game with mods enabled. I got in game and I was netting 20-30 fps. When I first started game it detected my video settings and set the. To medium. I don't know if this is because it's an older game and it is not identifying my GPU. I set all settings to max. HDR enabled with AA enabled in Nvidia Control panel.

I tried a few things while mods where in place. I removed stutter reducer. Ran Archive inval. Teslodgen, started new save. I removed the whole OBSE folder. Disabled Vsync, disabled AA. I ran game without mods. I deleted the ini file. But I was still getting worse fps than the 5870 which shouldn't be happening. I turned Phyx off. I reinstalled drivers using driver cleaner and ccleaner. I found a post on team forums saying to exclude a certain file through anti virus but that did not seem to help. I ensured my card was in 3d mode. I have Dx11 installed.

Eventually I uninstalled Qarls 3 and optimized texture and meshes. I also uninstalled using BAIN "everything visible mod" I think its called RAWVED or something. After this the game was pretty much stock. It ran at 120+ fps. I then reinstalled Q3 and RAWVED and I was getting about 50-60 fps which again was the same amount as 5870.

Is there something deep in my game somewhere that may be causing these low fps? I am thinking of uninstalling and frag HD the reinstall. I have OMODs of all mods so it should not be hard to get FCOM back running. Or should I buy the non steam version of GOTY? Anyone else experience this?

Typing on iPhone at work sorry for any misspelled words:)

Did you make sure to delete the Oblivion.ini file in My Documents>My Games>Oblivion?
