Okay, so it isn't the best source, but it still gives room for thought.

And I'm pretty sure that Akulakahn is smaller than what you showed. And given that both golems were constructed in the Heart Chamber, the size was pretty much capped. Not to mention that the Underking did manage to blow it up.

I also think the scale is probably a bit off..judging from the size of his open chest cavity there, I distinctly remember his heart being a certain proportion of that, and the Heart would have to be bigger than the Imperial chap in the Adamantium armor there for this scale to be correct IMO, but I could be wrong.

The Heart wasn't larger than a human.

Folks, that is really the model of Ahkulakhan, not just a representation Prow made up. It is a picture that is taken of the actual model used in-game. I do remember in the heart in the game, it is rather small, definitely not the size of a human.

I'd upload a picture from my game, but I've scarcely played my PC version of Morrowind, so my complete game is on my ol' xbox.

Based on my CS measuring, the Heart is almost exactly the size (well, lenght) of an Imperial or a Dunmer.

It's still a lot smaller than either.

I've forgotten what the original question was...

Oh yeah. Keening.

My guess is that the materials made up in the construction were normal metal alloys and a particularly nice crystal. This isn't to say that they weren't infused with magicka to alter their properties significantly, obviously. So what were the tools made of? metal, crystal and magic.

As brilliant and devious and crafty as the Dwemer (or Ayleids, or any lost civilization in the game) we have to remember that they weren't so tough that the "Barbarians" of the time were altogether beneath them. The Dwemer allied themselves with the Chimer mainly out of necessity- to fight the Nords.

However technologically advanced a lost civilization might seem, magic and brute strength were wonderful equalizers.

Arent the tonal tools apart of the God that made Nirn? Didnt Karnac use Lorken to make the tools and the heart?

As far as we know, Kagrenac and his tonal architects made the tools to tap into the power of the heart.
