Installation or Hardware problem?

I installed the game of the year version that includes knights of the nine and shivering isles. everything seemed to install fine. i started the game and made it to the end of the starting quest where you follow the king to the sewer entrance (or exit?). whenever i click on the manhole cover to continue the game just closes and windows has a message saying the it has encountered a problem and is trying to fix it then does nothing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the same thing occurs. does anyone have any idea why its doing this. obviously its something strange or it wouldn't work at all, right? here is my computer info (it's a year or so old). i read through a lot of old posts and realize that this game doesn't like chipsets and prefers full video cards but why would it work at all if that was the issue? PLEASE HELP. thanks

This is the problem, the game doesnt like to play on these. They are too weak. The game doesnt need as much power in the sewers. Outside it needs much more attention from the GPU.

You could buy a new video card, but you would need to open up the case and make sure that the PSU can handle it. Getting the wattage and brand of the Power supply unit.

Power supply for this system is a lowly 250W generic unit. I wouldn't go more than a Radeon 4650 or 5570 with that power supply:

If you replaced the power supply, you could get a more powerful card...but the question is how much you're willing to spend?
