Help! Can't get out of the starter dungeon in daggerfall! Do

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:25 am

Hey all,

I got Daggerfall recently, really happy to find this game.

So, I just can't get out of the Starter Dungeon, from the great big place, where do I go? Please help, I want to get out, :(

Oh, and how do I look up and down?

Get to one of the top levels. There is a room with a circle of candles and a few enemies. Among those enemies will be an imp, a few rats, and maybe a giant bat. You should see a 2D archway with a skull under it. Click on it.

To map your controls, press "esc" and go to controls.

I think there are two camera modes, one of which where you use your mouse to look around, and I think the default make you hit buttons, check the controls for that.

But uh, the big place? Like, with a staircase, a skeleto and some big curtain things? You need to climb up that wall with the curtains, and from there it's not too hard to find your way out.

I'm pretty sure you can use the lever to turn the throne into a lift. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what you are talking about.

You can, but you don't have to. You don't even need the levitating throne. There's a back staircase behind the secret door at the left of the staircase as you look up at the throne.

Already got out :)

But, in that video, he really easily turned around, looked about, and attacked without the nuisance of Daggerfall, how did he do it?

Go into controls, press the green "mouse" tab at the bottom and check mouse based movement.

but you will get ambushed by 2 warriors or archer guys that way, but its a pretty weak ambush since they mostly get stuck on the doors.

ZOMG multiple paths in the first dungeon! Revolutionary!

I love it. This sort of stuff is everywhere, too. Well, most of it looks just like that (climb, fly, find the lever/skull/teleportingfountain, or find the other longer path), but it's nice.

Thanks, I'm off to a nice enough start :)

But where can I buy a boat, or a Horse/Wagon? Oh, and where can I find good blunt weapons? My warhammer is the best I could find :)

Go to a town and find a general store for your horse/wagon (and never buy two of either of those). You'll find weapon/armor shops around town too.

Ships can be bought in banks, and horses and wagons in general stores. You can either buy a blunt weapon if you can afford it or raise your level and find some humanoid enemies to kill.

I'm assuming you won't have enough for a boat yet. Everyone has their own starting methods, but the way I first got some XP and some loot was to camp in the wilderness (not too far from a town was my preference). When beasties come you automatically wake up. Fight if it's something you can kill (or have a save game set) or run if you don't want to fight; run into town and you should no longer be chased. You'll find you'll get a lot of armor or other junk you can then sell for $.

Have fun.

I just jump right into the faction quests. For the most part, they don't send you on something you can't handle, with the exception of mages guild quests requiring spellcasting outside your ability. I just took a quest to cast "sleep" on some lady, and only discovered when I got there that I couldn't actually cast it.
