new player console question

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:19 am

Basically my aim is to alter how much money Ajira in Balmora has. I would like him/ her to have about 50,000 (drakes?).

I have no experience with the console or mods - but I am assuming I can do this using the console.

If I use the console to alter things like this, do I run the risk of corrupting my savegame and having difficulties installing the expansion packs/ any mods in the future?

Does using the console count as modding and if not how does it behave differently? How should I manage any changes I make?

Currently I am running the game as it was sold only with a couple of changes to the music files.

Loads of random, disjointed questions sorry, but any answers would be greatly appreciated! Ta

You say you want to change Ajira's amount of money?
Yes you can to do that either via the console (you're cheating) or you can download a mod who does that change for you. Than use http://search2.yacoby.net/ to find it. :)

If don't find a mod and you still feel that something needs to be changed in your game you can always create a mod in CS, so just read the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/24-comprehensive-tutorial-and-useful-link-list/ to get you started.

I don't know what the mods would put this topic, but it doesn't belong here that's for sure. ;)

I'm assuming you want her to have the gold for trade. Unfortunately, adding her gold won't change how much she barters with.

You can do this easily by opening CS, files, data files, check Morrowind and proceed. Go to NPC tab, find ajira and open her window by double clicking. Now in lower right corner you'll see her list of spells. Click on the inventory tab and you'll see her inventory. Find where her gold is on that list and change the number left from gold's ID to 50000. Now she only has 50000 in her inventory, but she doesn't barter with it yet.

Click AI on the bottom of her window and find services tab (or something like that, I'm a bit rusty on NPCs), the tab that lets you check what will she barters with, anyway. You should see something like barter gold box. Change that to 50000 as well, click ok and save her, and save the mod with the name you wish. I'll assume you know how to activate a mod.

That's it, if you don't get something let us know :)

Thanks for the help, it's clear now that I need to get to grips with mods, I'll now enter the infinite list of lists of guides to modding and pray I end up with a sensible one!!!
