Daggerfall's performance is affected by the environment in which it runs not only quantitatively, but qualitatively, as well. I remember the difference in running the game on a P90 as opposed to a p133 (or was that a 300?). Speeds clearly changed, but different speeds changed differently. Oddly enough, the faster processor actually slowed down enemies, making it easier to evade their hits. And then there's Windows XP specific bugs. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if, under a Vista build of Dosbox, we end up discovering yet more strange behavior.
As for me, I've never seen a hovering door, but I did recently see (Dosbox under Ubuntu 64) a doorway that had TWO doors in it. Not a thick doorway with secret doors on both sides. but two in literally the same place. Had to open them both to get through.
