broken canon... I mean steel.

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:03 pm

Ok so basically I want broken steel to be made non canon because of the way it deals with the enclave and eden effectively wipeing out the latter from the game. Now i'm not saying the good karma/bos ending shouldn't be canon the enclave should be etc, what i'm saying is that the dlc broken steel should be non canon.

Any thoughts and opinions guys?

I also wanted to make a poll but it's a nightmare to do on a phone :( .

Wow John Henry Eden has something bad to say about Fallout 3.. lol jk

I have some bad news for you.. Broken Steel is canon because it was mentioned in New Vegas. Ed-E clearly talks about events and tech that only came into play with the Broken Steel DLC. So yeah it's canon .

This is why people should be asking for better writing in future Fallouts, because Bethesda screws it up more often then not. Broken Steel is a great example.

They effed up alot in FO3, we can only pray that a better job will be done in the future in terms of story, plotholes and keeping true to the series. There are lessons to be learned, let's hope this is realised.

I agree they fudged up somethings but I wouldn't stretch it as far as to say alot , but I agree bethesda needs to learn or it could kill fallout.
I hope they hire some obsidian writters *holds breath and waits*

Yeah maybe stretched it a bit far, i personally love FO3, but i can see their faults. I really don't want them to kill fallout, one of the last great game series left after Mass Effect 3 and the long dead CoD.

The part of Broken Steel I really liked was Adams Air Force Base. Very well done location IMO. Hellfire Armor was an awesome addition to the Enclave arsenal as well.

Writing svcked of course, but that's not going to stop Bethesda from making it canon unfortunately.

I did enjoy Mass Effect, as in i used to. The lore was well made, characters were interesting and there were many choices, then they decided to throw everything out the window with Mass Effect 3, unfortununatly succumbing to the idea that they needed to dumb it down and make it a [censored] shooter, but i did really enjoy Dragonage, that was great fun, the second not so much.

I thought the hellfire armor was awesome, and i liked the base overall, plotholes aside.

Once a future game mentions something from a previous game, it becomes canon. Sorry. Is mothership Zeta canon? lol

Ed-E's logs talk about the Enclave's presence in Adams air force base and the hellfire armor. It doesn't mention the BOS vs Enclave war that I know of and nothing about the mobile crawler.

Indeed it doesnt, it was very vague of any events of FO3 just stating that he was stationed at Adams Air Force base so, potential revival of the few.. the proud... THE ENCLAVE! As for making them appear in a major force again, not for atleast 2 or 3 games but playing behind the scenes is always the best move especially when your man power is limited.

Bethesda learned from Fallout 3. They also learned from New Vegas.

With FO4, they'll keep the retro (30's-50's) aspect in the game, while hopefully fixing the story.

Yeah. Broken Steel's story svcked. Adams Air Force Base and the Presidential Metro kick ass.

Nothing has been mentioned about it so we can only hope. This will be the test I'll use to see if Bethesda actually cares about making a faithful Fallout game, I will only lose complete hope if they make it canon.

Manpower? Citizenry. And it is sacred, provided that Autumn has [censored] off and died I doubt that the Enclave will be sticking their remaining necks out too much for a long time and thank Christ.

Broken Steel is a pile of crap that somehow managed to weakened an otherwise stupid, forced "destiny" ending - quite spectacular really. It's not going to be non-canon now and frankly, if Bethesda partook in such flip-flopping in regards to actual canon as they did with actually making Broken Steel I'd be even more worried; you can't set a precedent for deleting lore based on fans opinions, even if it was for the best.

That being said, not only does Fallout: NV reveal an Enclave presence in Chicago but, as-per-the-usual, Bethesda didn't dare be decisive and say that the Enclave were dead; Elder Lyon's says, after Broken Steel, that "I wouldn't be surprised if the Enclave returned to the Capital Wasteland one day."

[censored] you Bethesda, seriously. If Skyrim is any precedent we're all [censored].

I like the Enclave somewhat, but hopefully this means we will see a new force in Fallout 4. I wouldn't mind interacting with the Enclave similar to how you interacted with the BoS in FNV, but I doubt Bethesda would do that (they'd probably have a side quest were you SHOOT EM ALL AND BLOW EM UP because they are the default "bad guys").

I'm just hoping Bethesda learned from Fallout 3 and New Vegas and will do a better job with the story in Fallout 4. I feel that The Pitt and Point Lookout both demonstrate they have the capability to write decent stories, but we will just have to wait and see. No denying that Fallout 4 on the Creation Engine (revamped Gamebryo) will look stunning though!

Imo the enclave should range in size from the reminants to maybe the mojave bos(unsure if it maybe would be too big).
But then again isn't there base in chicago fairly big?

We know of the existance of "outposts", could be anything from Navarro/Adams Airforce Base sized garrisons to the smallest of operations really; the only source is Dr Whitley in ED-E's recordings and given that ED-E didn't rendevous at the outposts but was found and repaired by two-wasters we aren't really in any position to make any sweeping or accurate predictions.

I hope its not a Navarro/Adams Airforce Base sized garrison. I feel that would be kinda ridiculous all things considered. Either way, I'd rather Fallout 4 see more of New England/the Commonwealth. Partially because that's where I'm from and also because outside of the references to the Commonwealth, we know little about that area.
