What should Fallout 4 story line be?

Honestly the story in NV was kind of boring. A guy shot you in the head and you kill him (I know there is more to it but you get my point). I wanted to see what people thought Fallout 4 should be about. Let's hear it!

I didn't find it boring. It's not so much what the back-story of your character is, but the story of the world you are in.
Considering this, do you mean the back-story of your character, or the story of the game world that it will be set in within a new Fallout game?

I actually don't get your point, plus every story line is boring when you simplify it as you did. Fallout 3: 'Look for your dad, flick a switch.'

I prefer not to speculate on the actual contents of the story so much as the way it is set up. I really liked what New Vegas did with its incredibly non-linear progression. The character you play should be as vague as possible so s/he can be whatever you him/her to be, the story should be varied depending on how you choose to progress and there should be no continuation after with as many different ending possibilities as it is enjoyable to add.

This should go into the Fallout 4 Speculation thread.

Anyway, they'd hopefully place it into the Commonwealth of Massechussets, with the whole thing about the Institute and the Railroad. If so, one of the themes I'd like to see play out is if the main character is actually a hyperadvanced android like A3-21. Yeah, the storyline may seem obvious... but if gamesas can do it right and take notes from, say, BioForge, then the whole issue becomes about the choices the main character makes, which determines if they're an Android or Human. Far more compelling than a last-minute dialogue option.

After all, Fallout is the story of humanity and war. "War never changes." But does it, if the war is between androids and humans?

Fallout 4 will most likely see us return to the East Coast, and may very well involve what Marss spoke of, but it is my hope that F4 will take us to Chicago so we can finally learn something about the fate of the Mid-Western BOS, and the Enclave that are as we learn from ED-E in FNV, have bunkers possibly in or around the city.

I'd like to see an area that hasn't been previously explored, such as Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, New York, or maybe even somewhere outside of what is the USA in the Fallout universe. Maybe Beijing or Moscow. I don't really know about actual story, but those are just some settings I'd like to see.

What I meant when I said the story of NV is boring, I meant your characters story. Not all of the quests, just the story of it. You get shot in the head. You find the man who killed you. You kill him. Not that exciting just talking about it to your friends, also doesn't sound fun so that would lead someone not to do it.

yes!!! I want to see it on the east coast because that would be California, where the NCR come from.

I know it goes against the whole 1950's America aesthetic of the Fallout series but I would like to see the next one take place in China. I think it would be a nice change of pace to see things from the other side. Hong Kong maybe so caucasians wouldn't be totally out of place.

Is there any canon regarding the chinese having vaults?

That's the thing that I love though, the game isn't centered around your character like it is in Fallout 3. You are free to make your own story for your own character and play him/her through the story of the Mojave.

...California is on the west coast.
