Why wasnt new vegas in Texas?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 11:36 am

It seems to me that if new vegas was centered around the alamo it would have been a much more interesting and dynamic location.

It could take place 20 years after the events of fallout new vegas, where the NCR pushed the legion out of arizona, through new mexico, and out of new mexico into texas.
The NCR's manifest destiny is sweeping across the continent and by the 24th century the have the western half of the country under their control. The legion need texas as a strategic position in their war with drug runners and mexican cartels (mexican cartels now resemble small nations much like the states we have in america today)

The legion rebuilt their strength in the city of San Antonio, TX and stand their ground against the NCR (the legion is now primarily composed of integrated drug cartel clans and mexican immigrants), so the irony is this time the alamo is defended, the whites are attacking the mexicans.

You can further the development of the NCR, the legion, the cartels, the "new texas republic", independent factions in houston and austin, or launch unused nukes located in the commonwealth of cuba at various factions (stop the NCR from spreading, kill the legion, irradiate the rio grande, ect).

DLC: go to arizona
DLC: new orleans
DLC: mexico

Good idea huh?

Edit:
By the way, this time you are a vault dweller

Edit again:
To everyone saying "because vegas in in nevada"
I mean, why didnt they develop "Fallout: The Alamo"

They should name Fallout 4 "Alamo".

Then base it in Florida.

Because making a game named Fallout: New Vegas, and setting the game in Texas would make no sense.
Obsidians reputation would be ruined and more people would start believing in the stereotype that says Americans don't know geography etc.

Nothing good could come out of it.

Because games cost money and take time, and New Vegas is still fairly new. There hasn't been enough time to make another game.

Vegas is in Nevada

but seriously, these ideas should go into one of the suggestion threads for Fallout 4. No need to dwell on what-could-have-beens for New Vegas

Wasn't the Burned Game based in Texas?

As much as I like Texas, (I live there) I don't think the location of the game could have been better. The whole theme of NV is about nations starting to form. And I don't think Texas is the ideal location for that.

Plus I like House and the Strip.

Vegas is in Nevada, and what you were describing sounds like a sequel to NV rather then a replacement.
