A day in the life of a Wastelander
"You know, if you don't hurry up the raiders are gonna catch you and put you in a stew" Said Michael
"Dude, stop bothering me. The raiders are gone, we killed the rest of them an hour ago. Now sit your butt down, I'm tired" Said Tanis
They sat down and looked in their packs for their supplies. "Awww, dude we are down to one cigarette. Wanna share?" Tanis Asked
"Ya sure, why not" Mike said. Tanis took out his lighter, shook it, then light the cigarette and after two puffs passed it to Mike. The two of them had been best friends living in Megaton for all 16 of their years on this earth. They decided that it was time for a change. During the night they would sneak into Megaton and slowly take apart their house and bring it out to their new location. They called their house Santuario, which was Italian (Which is 85% of Tanis' heritage and a language he could speak) for Sanctuary, which is what it was for them. They got up and walked the last mile to their home and stood in front and sighed. Tanis was more over a techy guy, He fixed up robots with spare part's he found, he programmed their terminals and he set up all the traps at their home. He carried a .44 Magnum he had found once in an abandoned houses safe (He and Mike were both pretty good with Lockpicks) and he had a combat shotgun strapped one way on his back that Mike had taken from the Megaton Armory. Both he and Mike had the same weapons except for ONE thing. They both had combat knives hidden in their boots, but Tanis had a unique weapon that had been his fathers. Il Phantismo was a unique weapon that his father had started making himself that Tanis had finished after his house was bombed. Once they got rejected from the vault, Tanis' father (Chuck) decided to build his own underground bomb shelter. Tanis and Michael (Whom they adopted since his parents were killed by a pack of savage dogs) helped him build it. One night, they heard the bombs coming, and there was only enough time for the boys to get down, so Chuck pushed them in with Tanis holding his little brother, and ever since then it has been Tanis, Mike and Tyler, who was now 11. Tanis snapped out of his thoughts as he realized he was in front of the shack. A Protecteron, Sentry Bot and Robobrain zoomed out in front of him and aimed their guns. Tanis looked at each of them and said "Stand Down. owner Protocol #7215" and they stopped. "WELCOME HOME SIR: The Protecteron said, and with that, Tanis and Mike walked into the shack while avoiding all of the traps and mine and stopped short. Tanis took out a remote control and hit a blue button. The machine in front of him went into standby mode. Tanis had modified a baseball launcher and replaced it with Frag and Pulse grenades. One of his favorite and first inventions.
"LUCY! I'M HOME!!!!" Yelled Tanis in a Cuban accent.
"Since when is Tyler a girl, and why name him Lucy?" Asked Mike. Tanis was silent. He remembered his long lost love from his home in Megaton. he knew that with his certain "Special" Power, he would never be able to convince his love, Lucy West, to be his. She was 16 as well, a beauty. Long, Silver-Blond hair and light, pale blue eyes, and a smile to match. He snapped out of his thoughts once more and walked over to the basemant he entered the code on the terminal and then walked down to get his wounds tended to by Tyler. He stopped short when he saw another man talking to Tyler, a man of about 13.
"Hello Danny" Tanis Said.
