Anyone that can't download an .exe patch and install it themselves really shouldn't be using a computer without supervision.

I wouldn't call that a good thing about DRM, as DRM has no good in it.

The people complaining about the fact that they have to buy it from Steam, here's a newsflash: You don't have to buy it from Steam, you just have to have it installed. Which doesn't take really long, and doesn't cost anything extra. Not buying a great game just because you'll have to spend a couple of minutes registering an account and downloading it, is just incredibely stupid. Really, it just shows that you don't really care for the game after all, and if that's so, why are you here on the forums then?

Wireless?

Not sure about your setup but rarely do I ever hear someone saying hooking their computer up to the internet is a pain in the butt, especially since you are on one now posting. :P

Although some keep their gaming computers off the internet because of viruses and I could understand that.

Steam is a resource hog. I also shouldn't have to be connected at all times to play my game, which is what you need for Steam. Sorry, I won't play a game unless I have a DVD in hand.

Some people keep the gaming system offline to minimize the the need for background apps like virus scanners & such.

& not everyone plays MP games

before someone says "You don't need to be connected at all times with Steam."

yes, Offline is supposed to work but doesn't for everyone.

Firefox use more memory than Steam so I wouldn't call Steam a resource hog

Newsflash! Not everyone has cheap high speed internet. Example, I've been really wanting to get Microsoft Office 2010 for my school work and have scene some good Boxing Week deals on a few. Only problem, the deals only apply to purchasing the product key. Meaning I have to download another perhaps 3Gb worth of data that'll run me another $30 (or more) just to download through my ISP.

Attempting to stop pirating of a singleplayer game is mildly humourous. In any case, I've been using Steam since It was created with a way of getting Half Life around in mind. It's had bugs along the way but they've been fixed, and there's really no reason to despise Steam as a DRM. All you have to do is sign in when you start up your computer, and in less than fifteen seconds you can be playing the game...really no hassle.

DRM = Pirate

No DRM = Buy

I play on console. I needn't worry about such things.

Microsoft Office is 3GB? Might wanna check your facts.....

And the solution to a crap internet is simple, get better internet. Really can't blame anyone for this as well, certainly isn't Bethesdas or Steams fault that you have bad internet.

And  at Steam being a resource hog. What, do you got like 512 MB of RAM or something?

Obviously you have no idea what a DRM is.

Der-herrrrr, ya caught me!

No, I'll be okay. The only people that are punished by excessive DRM are legitimate customers.

DRM svcks. Easily said. You cant stop hackers and torrenters, even trying to is just kinda lame.

Not mentioning how much Silent Hunter V (Ubisoft game using DRM) svcked overall... It was seriously like running a one man submarine. Silent Hunter III was epic and kickass, I never played IV (Submarines and WW2 only fits with Germans) but going from SH III to SH V was like going from badassery to epic stupidness. Reminds me of TES III a bit... Hopefully Bethesda wont do the same mistake.

Really unecessary thread.. the only DRM that was a proper problem is where they wanted a constant internet connection during playtime. There are other methods of DRm that are one time authentication, and there is nothing evil about it.

So please stop making stilly troll threads. We already have enough threads discussing which DRM method is best.

Obviously you have no idea what a DRM is.

+1. To many people assuming or pretending they know things on the internet. No wonder people say it lowers your IQ.

There has been far too much talk of reasons to pirate games in this topic. So, before someone gets hurt I am closing it.
