Windows Vista Fallout 3 NEW GAME CRASH

Well I just purchased the Fallout 3 goty edition off of steam. Whenever I go to start a new game it crashes on me and says that "Fallout 3 has stopped working."

GPU cannot run the game.


Try right clicking the launcher and run compatability mode. Run it under xp or keep trying untill one of the modes work. You may have to check the run as admin box and you may have to do the ini fix. Thats how I got mine to run. Its a suggestion. not saying it will work. You may also need to run on low settings.

It's not going to run at all regardles of whether the OP does this. The Intel 965 Mobile Chipset will not run this game.

Being that this is a laptop as well, upgrading it to something that would run the game will almost be impossible.

Well I have a newer laptop is what really svcks.
I just don't understand how I could run Oblivion without any problems and still not run this, since they have similar requirements.
Also, it gets to the start menu fine, it just won't run the actual game itself.

Normally, that terrible Intel video chip crashes the (Oblivion) game near the end of the tutorial, descending the manhole into the sewers.

The start menu doesnt require too many resources. When the game starts and has to display gameplay, then its too weak to play. Oblivion doesnt use the same shader model.
