Large Scale Battles?

I'd say if a standard comp can handle it, that's fine. Really, think about it. Dagoth Ur or Dagon are invading, would hundreds (thousands) of soldiers stand around and depend on one guy to sort it out? It makes sense.

As a related thing, maybe a spin-off RTS for TES would be cool. Choose your campaign, Battle against Dagoth Ur, Oblivion invasion, Chimer/Dwemer/Nord wars, etc...

It should be done like in the beginning of Dragon Age. You don't actually have to be close to the fighting, so it doesn't have to destroy your computer.

Here's a reason why Large scaled battles in TES= BAD

I got a mod that makes more daedra pour out of the Gates at the Battle for Bruma quest and the mod also made the gate intervals longer.

First try:
I loaded up an old save file with all the Allies from each city and we lost

Second try:
I did the same as the first but this time I created full actor copies of some of the guards

The end result was a large group of NPCs running from one gate to the other, it wasn't as laggy as one would think. I made about forty extra guards altogether :(

Obviously they wouldn't shove thousands of NPCs on the same AI code.

IMO, it would be nice, to be able to fight dynamically, without worrying "if one more dude appears on my screen, the FPS will drop by 10".

Depends if bethesda can wrap their head around AI. If NPC AI is good then frequent battles would be fine. I love taking part as the general-of-the-army and fighting off hundreds of _____.

A war would also make a really fun setting for a part of the game. It has been re-stated and re-stated tamriel did not feel the invasion of Oblivion. You didn't see the world react. You barely saw the NPC prepare anything.

If the next game was set in the backdrop of a war or invasion they could vastly improve the world's reaction to it. i don't understand the games actual technical limitations; what I do understand is that it would be fun to be in a gaming moment like this.
