Need a guide on making Holotapes

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:46 pm

As the description says, I am in need of a guide on how to create a holotape. I have followed http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Audio_Settings_For_Dialogue_Video_Tutorial and it was of so little help, again as the description says, I am so frustrated I could break something.

I have the audio file I want to use. I put it in the geck as a new sound(.wav file is what I am using) I then create a new topic for my NPC and add the sound. Then where it says the path down below I create that path and put the .wav and a copy of it that is an .mp3 file under that path with the suggested file name. I then create a holotape and put my npc as the speaker and then add the topic. At absolute best I can get the holotape to appear and get picked up but have no sound, at worst a CTD as soon as I attempt to play the tape. Anyone have some help?

Check this out and see if it meets your expectations:

There may be a bug or three as this is my first crack at such a guide and I too am still learning the GECK (probably will be my whole life!). Hopefully it all works well, and any feedback is appreciated!

Cheers,

I found out what I was doing wrong(thanks to your guide there), and that was that I wasn't making the audio files small enough and letting FO3 link them together. Your guide is awesome and definitely needs to be stickied/wikied somewhere. It works absolutely perfect.

Awesome!! I was nervous that the process would work for me and not for anyone else (lol). Its good news that its working!! I'll sit on it a week or so and collect any needed changes people post, and will post-up version 1.1 as production next week.

I have another running thread for this one too at: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=966145

It was Tyana Rie that told me you were having troubles with it, I'm grateful she PMed me to focus on this one to start off the guides. :)

Cheers!

Tyana = male(or I certainly hope so, it's its voice on my holotapes xD )

Yeah, when I was having the issue I had to go drown my problems in a twelve pack. But I came back and got your guide off the nexus and now all my tapes are in game and working. . .and of course as soon as I type that the GECK has to crash. As soon as I figure out WTF did/didn't get saved I will ask a mod to close this topic.

Edit: well apparently the GECK saved then froze and crashed and didn't give me an error message, so whatever. Didn't lose a thing. Asking for this thread to be closed now.
