Can the Honorblade of Chorrol be enchanted?

Hi all I’m doing the Sins of the father quest, and from what I’ve read I can buy back the HOC from Fathis. I’m inclined to give it back to the back to the people of Chorrel, unless it can be enchanted .

It already has an Enchantment if I remember correctly, so you can't.

Yes you can enchant it, but the quest remains unfinished and is probably broken for good.

The Honorblade is not enchanted.

As long as it remains a quest item, you cannot enchant it simply because you cannot remove it from your inventory to place in the enchanting altar.

If by selling it to and repurchasing it from Fathis it becomes enchantable, I have no idea as I have never tried.

The Honorblade is a good weapon for a low level character because it is repairable by a novice, kills ghosts like a silver weapon, weighs 0 (as long as it is a quest item) and does good damage. Many players hold onto it for their own use until level 25, then turn it in for the top level shield reward.

In normal way yes you can't enchant it, but I think you can enchant it with a sigil stone which you have in your inventory once you have closed an Oblivion gate.

That's a neat idea, and makes sense! Anybody actually done it?

:foodndrink:

EDIT:

I tested it, under differing circumstances:

1. Honorblade as a quest item. The Altar will not let you enchant it.
2. Honorblade as a quest item. With a sigil stone equipped, you cannot enchant it.
3. Honorblade as non-quest item. The Altar will let you enchant it however you like.
4. Honorblade as non-quest item. With a sigil stone equipped you can indeed enchant it.

So, the key is whether it is a quest item. I imagine selling it to Fathis and imediatelly repurchasing would render it a non-quest item, although I did not do any testing of that. (I simply used the command console to change its quest item status.)
