Haruka had just eliminated Hackdirt

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:31 am

Yeah, Haruka's so annoyed she actually made use of that Listener skill after so many months going the "never kill any innocent human" road. And she guesses she didn't stray: people over Hackdirt are barely innocent, except Jiv Hiever (Dar-Ma case) :flame:

Haruka was going to forget about them when she's going to Weatherleah to show off her shining Escutcheon of Chorrol when it's starting to rain. So she went to Hackdirt, to find a shelter for her poor horse, only to find one of them found out about her and start hacking her poor horse.

Haruka ran away and decided to burden her horse by going straight to Weatherleah and never look back. It's at that time she can't stand them anymore ("Why my horse?!"). After she finished her business, she went back to Rosethorn Hall, greeted Eyja, went up to change her clothes (black shirt, pants, gloves, cape, hood, and mask) and secretly went to Hackdirt.

So she went to their silly Chapel, sat down like a good girl and waited for them. They went in, probably to offer some prayers to their silly Deep One which won't help them that night, only to find a stranger sitting on the front bench. They tapped her shoulder and asked her to leave, they didn't even asked her name! So she didn't say anything and began slashing her dual short knife like an enraged assassin that she was. They screamed "OUTSIDER!" and fought back. Long slashes short, http://upload.kapanlagi.com/show.php?photo=20101213001412_ScreenShot36_4d0502e4ea40c.jpg.

Okay, that last paragraph was made up. Haruka arrived at around 2:00 am and couldn't find anyone anywhere, so she went to the caverns and shot them one by one stealth-style with her trusty arrow and bow (this particular bow was actually meant to be a ritual bow, now it's assassination bow, whatever), each resulted in instant death, and she spared only Jiv Hiever (Haruka won't forget good deeds). However, for some reason two brethren were outside, so she had to hack and slash under broad daylight, not that anyone else was watching . But work with me and pretend the scenario is true.

Eh, now she feels better. Looks like she didn't join Dark Brotherhood for nothing

After the quest I usually do the same thing. Everyone except Jiv. Otherwise I figure they'll just do it again to someone else.

For some reason they ran away from the cute little clannfear I summoned, and he thought they were playing. Unfortunately clannfear play kinda rough. :whistling:

I love the Hackdirt quest. They do a good job of setting up Dar-Ma and her mother as likable and sympathetic characters you want to help. The setting, villain motivation and story remind me of things like the Robin Of Sherwood episode "Cromm Cruac", the Buffy episode "Reptile Boy" and The Wicker Man. It's a really creepy little setting and scenario.

I probably could have freed Dar-Ma from her cell and made a quick get away and come back. But I preferred to leave her in the cell while I explored and took out most of the cult, leaving only the innkeeper (who didn't attack) and Jiv Hiever (since he was there, attacking the now docile innkeeper would probably have gotten me a unwanted bounty). I picked a couple off on their own but ended up with a mass battle for at least six of them at once (but followers of ancient Nazi gods were no match for my swift sword arm or fiery destruction skills and I sent them all to their hell). There was an odd little glitch above (in the shop) and below though, where in two cases there was no red indicator about stealing, only for characters to react to it as theft afterwards. Reloaded my entrance into the shop and for the caverns below I just went ahead and paid my bounty of one gold coin to a Chorrol guard. I may go back some time and look for any stragglers or strays.

I always sneak Dar-ma out of there before killing anyone if I can. She should not have to watch my executions, she's just an innocent young thing!

Seven Eleven Brethren ended up dead, after attacking Cal in his sleep. Later I returned, and killed everyone except Jiv (after the quest). So, I do like the most here?

I hope the clannfear was unharmed :) I prefer frenzy for fanatics, a sort of poetic justice to see them beat each other to death. Far better entertainment than the arena.
Also it's so nice that knights in crusader armor and dark brotherhood members can have a common goal.

I have no idea whether the Clannfear was hurt. He left for home right after that, probably didn't like the neighborhood. I know I didn't.

Buffy loves her clannfear, Spike; it's her fave helper. And yes, they are cute, cuddly, crazy mean and nasty fast. :twirl:

I was thinking I too, should slaughter Hackdirt, first of all for being rude.

But will I get to join the Dark Brotherhood if I do? Or are they evil?

If you run into them in the underground tunnels (or maybe because you rescued Dar-ma), most of them will probably attack you on sight and therefore won't bring you to the attention of the Dark Brotherhood (or more importantly, the do gooder Imperial Guards). However, if they don't attack you then that would count as murder and would get you a bounty if witnessed by others. If you want to join the Dark Brotherhood, it's probably better to kill a lone individual with a stealth attack when no one else is in the vicinity (your own adoring fan if you have him from the Arena Quest is acceptable for this), so as to avoid all the annoying bounty hassle.

The inhabitants of Hackdirt are considered evil, so if you walk in there swinging it will not allow you to join the DB. No murder record will appear.

You might consider the spell "Frenzy". Useful, especially as the people of Hackdirt are a little "crazed" to start. This counts as an assault only.
