Will they make a manual? No!

Nope, but I think in another 4-6 months we will have enough tutorials and enough WIKI content to solve most problems. After that, the Forums will still be here. :)

I can't argue with the pains and challenges of tutorials and manuals, and I also would be totally lost and not nearly as far along in my modding without them.

Wow, touchy subject. I am all for a published manual not because I am a spoiled brat or whatever else those negative nellies might call people who aren't big time pc guys. I work 40 hours a week, go to college, game, and attempt to have a personal life so I might not have the time for "trial and error" and its not like a book is gonna be a magical tome that enlightens all and makes all the more experienced modders look like crap. It would just be a means for people to educate themselves and not to mention a rather easy way for bethesda to squeeze some more earnings out of this imense cash cow they have out in their pasture.

To sum it all up......Chill out some people aren't naturals at this kind of stuff and we might need a little more help than the wiki can offer.

I would LOVE a manual.

I usually find wikis to only give you half answers instead of full ones.

On the first 5 posts of that very same thread there is also a link to the wiki that led to a very simple method to detect the very same thing he was looking for.
Sometimes you're just unlucky with the search function.

None of that says that he would have found his answer if he had a manual. In all likeness, he wouldn't.

Any book is not going to be "a magical tome that enlightens all". It's going to be a few sheets in fancy paper that in all likeness will contain errors and won't get updated (like a wiki does). And it's going to take an enormous amount of time to make, time in which the wiki would improve greatly to the point of probably making the manual pointless, and time that could be used to patch the darn game or fix the navmesh error on the geck.
I'd rather have the later 2 than toilet reading material.

My my, aren't you flamery today. Happily avoided the onhit rebuttal didnt you?.

You can't deny that time spent on making a manual means less time fixing the game/geck. Since we have a growing wiki to cover the former, having beth working on the later is important.
Modding tools used also extends beyond the geck to outside applications, while a wiki can happily make a tutorial for the whole ordeal, beth could find limitations on this aspect. For starters, i believe only very few in gamesas have ever used nifskope, opting for their dev tools that they can't publish for free instead. Come to think of it, i doubt many of them has even used the geck itself.

As for the thread derailment.... Considering you're amongst the most recurrent posters of this thread, and that this is the first mention you do of that OP line, or any willingness to pay, i think you're being a tad hypocritical.

This thread is dead, we have debated the manual thing to death. Conclusion? None, no one will agree.

Would a moderator please lock this down?

Thanks,
