Will You Still Play This After The New Game?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:51 am

Probably a lot less when I first get TES V, but it doesn't mean I will never again play Oblivion. I still play Morrowind too, obviously.

This. I will devote my life to TES V when it's released, but I'm sure that after a while I'll be playing Oblivion again, because I still play Morrowind.

I Will never play oblivion again after TES V, unless its super dumbed down. You have to close one door to open another.

I cycle through all my old rpg's, some like TeS are great games that keep giving new things I missed.
Others just because I find them perfect games ( for me I suppose ).
So will I still play yes, how often it depends but as I don't lie a little less if more good rpg's come out, after the drought we had.

One thing I like about Mods for Oblivion; remaking the world in ya views. Guarantee me high replayability.

Surprisingly no !!

I am dedicating almost every spare second of my life this year to Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas (when it comes out) and Red Dead Redemption.
The reason is that I can put all 4 games away and say "That's it, complete. Everything done!"

I will walk away and not look back for a long time.

It is also doubtful that I will play TESV until GOTY comes out and all those lovely Mods. Time will tell.

The Beth forum will undoubtably take up more of my time as I read what others think of the new game.

So assuming the next game is awesome and everybody loves it..... do you think you will ever make a serious play through of Oblivion again?

I know i probably will, because it's like, my favourite game :)

Well I own Oblivion and all its dlc's and I still play Morrowind.... hmm I wonder.....

Not sure, depends on how much TES V has me absorbed into playing it and how much I've played Oblivion. Ironically I've played lots of Morrowind and rarely find myself wanting to go back and play that again. Mostly because I've practically found everything in MW already, many times. The one thing (other than mods) that has me coming back to Oblivion so often is its fluid gameplay.

Tough to say. Assuming TES:V has alot of stuff missing from Oblivion (a better-stocked wilderness tops this list for me) then the answer eventually would be "no". I'd stop playing Oblivion for the new TES, assuming it's an overall better game. But I would try to finish up some of my OB games that haven't been completed yet. Like if I was just about to rescue Martin in a game, and TES:V came out that week, I'd still finish up the Main Quest in Oblivon

But as someone else said above: "life's too short!" These sorts of games take so much time, I simply wouldn't have enough time to devote to both games over the long run.

But if TES:V (for whatever resaon) doesn't follow the same formula (if it has guns, for instance), isn't as awesome, and/or has an even LAMER leveling system, I'll definitely be coming back to Oblivion.

Once TESV is out I'll go play through it the first time then go back to Oblivion for about a year until TESV mods and patches are up.
But I doubt I'll ever stop playing Oblivion completely.

Wait, so you people are saying even after TES:V is released, you're going to play Oblivion still instead?

I tend to avoid new games upon release. I used to jump right on them but I learned not to. They are usually buggy, broken, and otherwise messed up requiring a lot of fixing. I tend to wait for a few patches, some mods, and to hear that people are happy with the stability before I purchase. Heck, I sometimes wait for the GOTY/platinum/collection release. You don't get points for buying the game at release.

Sure, but the nostalgia of being one of the first players to beat and comment on parts of the game on forums has its own high. :D Besides, if everyone adopts that philosophy, who's going to be the one to find out how stable it is? :P

Heh, I guess that would be me. :)

I pre-ordered Morrowind and Oblivion (with overnight shipping, even) and will do the same when TES 5 is available for pre-order. I love the Elder Scrolls and can't understand not wanting to play a new one as soon as possible. *shrugs*

I'll burn Oblivion and never play it again because I only accept Morrowind and Daggerfall as true TES games (Sarcasm detected)... Of course I will play Oblivion and Morrowind! Why wouldn't I! Classics never get old.

Thank Mara for Pseron and Schmoe! Once you and other brave souls get TES V all sorted out and wiki'd and patched and modded and documented, I'll start looking at it. Heck, Buffy may be living in Arenthia, Valenwood by then! :P

Depends on what TESV is like. If it brings back spears, then I probably won't ever go back to Oblivion, excepting when I feel especially nostalgic. May or may not keep playing Morrowind. I really can't make that decision until TESV comes out and I play it.

I don't like to pick up things up fast either

But the the time TES 5 comes out I'll likely be busy with FONV GOTY

And then there is the issue of getting a better computer

Let's just hope the testing team for TES V does most of the work before we get our hands on it. :D

Maybe, maybe not. I'm approaching my personal level of completionism for Oblivion. I've even taken on an atronach high elf and raised it to level 44 working toward 50. I'm walking around with 101% reflect damage and at least 100% (not exactly sure if it's over 100 or not) spell absorption at the exact same time, not to mention I've maxed out mysticism so I can just snap my magicka back with telekinesis spells.

Seriously, [censored] attacks me and it just falls over. People cast at me and I eat it into my magicka. About the only things that hurt me are arrows, traps, falling, and somehow Dustfang/Dawnfang from time to time when it runs out of charge. I take damage every now and then but it's not even an 8th of my total health bar. So naturally, I can heal myself up with restoration and then snap back the magicka I lost for that with telekinesis.

As for the roleplaying element? I spent my first two years or so doing that with the game before I delved into the technicalities of it. I COULD go on a mad, collect-all-the-varla-stones personal challenge, but IMO that's a bit much considering everything I've already done.

Close ALL the Oblivion gates? I could, but I don't really need to. I've got 100% chameleon and 100% spell reflection in my inventory at all times just in case. I've done all the daedric shrines aside from the final one in which you get the infinium (sp?) and I'm intentionally waiting until I'm already at level 50 for it. I've done all the factions as well. The only things I have left to do are go to Paradise and finish the main quest, and continue and finish Shivering Isles from Felldew and on (I stopped for a while thinking I was going to use the felldew exploit but then realized that it was too late to do that).

So yeah, I've got a little bit left to do, but not too much. Afterward I think I'll go after all the unique enemies (spectral mudcrab and whatnot) and then maybe attempt the dive rock jump? After that, I think I'll consider myself absolutely done.

Though this is entirely done on an Xbox 360, an older model, which lags a bit when I play the game to begin with due to it being older. Whatever though, if I can't do the jump then oh well, it wouldn't be that big of a loss. I've accomplished everything else.

This isn't the only character I've played with either obviously. This was sort of my finale character I guess. It didn't start off or didn't intend to be that, but that's what it turned into. o_o

I think with time after the new Elder Scrolls game comes out after I play through it to this extent, I could come back to Oblivion and probably do it all over again.

There's nothing like the rush of running Kvatch.
