Those maps have one bad flaw...they dont show the entire state nor do they even give me any good frame of reference to try and narrow down where things might be.
To start, they are not supposed to as they serve for in-game travel and also you have a pretty damn good frame of reference, Los Angels in Fallout 1, San Francisco and Reno in Fallout 2.
And that "real life" make is wrong on the location of the Oil Rig as its somewhere in the Pacific.
Are the maps distorted in some way, or why I've yet to see a Fallout world map with locations in their right places?
The maps are not done to be 100% accurate to real wold locations, its not "geez, I wonder if my house was bombed" (it was) but to show the world map ingame travel, that is why its actually LOOKS like someone nuked the place instead of using GoogleEarth 2010 edition.
