Standing side by side with the best games ideas.

First, I'd like to state that I have every faith in the developers delivering a polished product with their own flair on what they've done well so many times in the past.

I must admit I never played any of the ES series before Morrowind, but have played every one of them since and am definitely looking forward to the next instalment.

This isn't a post to state I think that someone else has done it better or an ideas/suggestions thread, more, a post to state what we as gamers have found to be effective and what has worked well in other games that could be adapted to Skyrim.

I want to see what peoples opinions are on different aspects of the game and what games have done it well in the past.

For example;

User Interface; Mass Effect / Red Dead Redemption. - Being able to hold down a button and have a radar of weapons/items etc.

Horses; Red Dead Redemption - Solid, fluid and lifelike motions

Sneak; Splinter Cell conviction - Realistic and fluid motions when placing your back to an object or hiding

Damage effects on NPC; Bioshock - The after effects of being hit with fire/ice/electricity were brilliant and highly amusing

Stealth attacks; Assassins Creed - Easily targeting system mixed with an effective 1 hit 1 kill

With a year to go until release date, I'm hoping something like these have already been incorporated into the game.

With areas that relate to ES, what games do you feel have done it best already?

Whether or not they're good features for their respective games, I personally want TES to stick with what has made it what it is. I prefer improvement over completely new systems.

Sometimes, systems other games use are improvements over the systems currently in place in these games. RDR's horses are an extremely fine example - they've set a bar that every developer, regardless of genre, should be aiming for if there are horses in their games.

They are not so much as title specific features but a higher set standard in gaming I think. I mean why should God of War or Uncharted have a monopoly on pretty graphics.

Have you played splinter cell games before conviction?

I think RDR's horses should definitely be looked at, to make sure we get nice horsies. The other suggestions though... they do need to improve in these areas but make sure that they keep the Elder Scrolls feel.

Nice points, but a RDR-like horse riding system and pretty graphics are the kind of things I see as improvements, whereas a targeting system would be a new feature that I don't want to water down and further mainstreamize the game. Maybe I'm just being over fundamental though.

It's a forum, if everyone posted there instead of making threads it would be fairly useless.

Sure, but I was referring to that particular game in the series.

Also,

Batman Asylum; NPC's reactions - Wasn't spot on, but was very good, when you swept down and strung an NPC up, they started to act very differently, making rash decisions, shooting randomly etc.
