Leave Morrowind to rest (actually, thrive) in its current greatness. I could not for the life of me imagine the stark, grungy, surrealistic world with shoddy physics and excessive bloom/ambient lighting everywhere (MGE doesn't count, its amateur third party shaders are infinitely more believable than Oblivion's in my opinion). Plastic FaceGen heads and voluntary blocking? No thanks. :P

I agree! I want them to make Morrowind with some of the improvements of Oblivion such as fast travel and the ability to wield a weapon and use spells at the same time. Personally I loved the vast amount of territory to explore and quests to do and weapons and armor to collect in Morrowind. I know I would certainly buy a revamped Morrowind.

Bleh, OB's game engine svcks and comes with plenty of limitations and problems of its own. Not really keen on a bloom-bleached Vvardenfell with plastic-face people. I'll stick with my MW mods.

If Bethesda had to go back and fiddle with TESIII one more time, then I wish they'd un-hard code some stuff and incorporate the variables in the CS so modders could tweak them. Also, maybe upgrading the animations files so making new anims isn't limited to 3DMx 5 for whatever previous version still supports the archaic/obsolete .nif used in TESIII.

The game engine doesn't svck. Any issues that Oblivion had was not specifically Gamebryo's fault. That engine has a lot of potential. It just needs to be implemented better. Quite honestly, many of the imperfections of Oblivion had to do with space limitations and hardware limitations. TES games are very ambitious to say the least and compromises will have to be made somewhere.

*mumbles something about PC hardware not being the limiting factor*

I'm sure a true Gamebryo engine is fine. I'm not wild about what Bethesda has frankensteined over the years. One large gripe I have are the huge performance issues with having lots of statics and/or several NPCs rendered on the screen, something that contemporary games (and their engines) have problems with (and still manage to look visually pleasing). Additionally, there's whole loading cell issues. I recall reading that how it was cooked up made it necessary to have all those little caves sprinkled liberally every ten meters. Either way, there are many other games that have achieved seamless/unobtrusive loading for cells (Dungeon Siege, God of War, Titan Quest, etc).

Oh god, no. Morrowind's version of fast travel is much better than Oblivion's and Fallout 3's.

Yes, that would be nice, but keep in mind that some people have pretty much beaten everything in Morrowind and wouldn't have a whole lot more fun with it. How about they just make Elder Scrolls V have very very similar gameplay to MW, and graphics (and maybe a few mechanics) of Oblivion?

Oh, to be a fly in the same room as someone playing such a game...

*sigh* This would be absolutely pointless. I, along with other members of these boards, have played through Morrowind sooo many times that I can give people heads-up directions for any quest and most dungeons. A remake of Morrowind would add no new plot, just more shiny graphics, a few gameplay tweaks, and maybe a physics engine. No thanks.

It would be nice to see the graphics and physics engines from Oblivion added to Morrowind, but not a complete remake of the game. Personally i wouldn't want to see the really varied dialogue from Morrowind get replaced by the repetitive, generic pre-recorded stuff from Oblivion.

I would buy it if it was made on the current gamebryo engine. NOT the 1 from Oblivion. that was crap full of bugs.

a physics engine.

No no nononononono. Please god no. Don't even suggest that it would be a possibility. Physics single handedly killed my second favorite pastime in Morrowind, decorating my house with all of my hard earned loot.

The thought of changing what many of the Oblivion fans found annoying about Morrowind (most of which were the very things that MW fans found annoying about Oblivion) sends a cold chill up my spine. Yeah, turn one of the last "true RPGs" out there into another generic hack&slash "twitch" game, and see how many of the MW fans buy it. Besides, most of the MW fans have already "been there, done that", and would much prefer a new plot and setting with the same "depth" to a facelift for something that's getting overly familiar by now. Actually, I think you're talking about an economic disaster on an epic scale.

Besides, the PC users have mods that already do at least half of what Bethesda could do. The only real official "improvements" I'd like would be to fix a few of the engine problems, update the animations or the ability of the engine to accept newer ones, allow access via the CS to some of the currently restricted game functions, and in general make it even more "mod-friendly" than it already is.

Perhaps you noted the presence of giant mushrooms in the Shivering Isles? SI is a tip of the hat to all MW fans.

I've been wanting a remake of Morrowind for a while now. At least so long as they didn't Oblivionize it. I'd be even happier with a Daggerfall remake though. But, again, so long as it wasn't Oblivionated. I just want the better graphics engine, not the crap they did to the skills, the weapons, the spells, the armor, the clothing, the NPCs, the lore, et cetera ad nauseam.

Heck, if I heart that Bethesda was working on a Daggerfall II, I might actually be interested in buying it! It might indicate an actual change of heart. Where as a TES V holds no interest whatsoever. Not with the direction that Bethesda has been taking to ruin the TES series lately.

I still think a remake of anything is unreasonable on our part. Much better would be some kind of official porting and support on new operating systems. Getting the old games to run on modern computers is like jerry rigging it with duct tape today...but if they just got a team together to work on porting the old games...

So much the better if they could swing putting Arena or Daggerfall on the Nintendo DS. I'd kill for a decent hand held RPG like that.

Honestly, as much as I loved the things Oblivion brought to the table, there would be things missing from a Morrowind on Oblivion's engine that would make it.. not Morrowind. So no. I'd much rather have The Elder Scrolls V.

I have both Oblivion, and Morrowind. Oblivion was my first TES. When I was done with it, I ran out and bought Morrowind. I was really disappointed. I didn't like the engine. It was weird to play, after playing Oblivion, to me. The fighting wasn't as well made, and I couldn't seem to level. I'd love to see a Morrowind be created in Oblivion's Engine, or an even better one (Fallout 3 engine, or maybe a new one in development?). Then I'd be able to actually get that games story line, and enjoy TES more.

I don't care what they do, I'll eat it up if it's Elder Scrolls.

Unless it's an MMO. Then I'll avoid it like the plague.

Although I prefer Oblivion, I don't think it would be a good idea at all, it would be old vine in new bottles and nothing more, besides, even though the combat in Morrowind is flawed, the combat in Oblivion still needs work.

I'm gonna be disappointed with the next game, if they don't use the time they have to address the problems with the former game.

I see no reason to remake past games. Yes, Morrowind gameplay could be improved if remade, but I'd rather see something totally new. Besides, Vvardenfell was destroyed when the Ministry of Truth came crashing down.

with the Infernal City novel being released, i kinda get the sense that Bethesda want to keep the series progressing forward. we've been moving along through the TES lore chronologically for quite some time now, it would be silly to jump back to an earlier chapter, especially such a recent one.

and really, Todd and Co. are pretty in-touch with what the Elder Scrolls fans expect. i think they realize how much a slap in the face it would be if we waited this long for a game most of us have played inside-out.
