Things from the Fallout series you do/don't want in TES:V

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:19 am

Hey everyone. So we've seen two prominent RPGs from Bethesda since Oblivion was released, and we can only assume that many of those who are working on Skyrim right now will have helped to make both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. This is a thread to post features that you liked about these games which weren't present in Oblivion (and that you think would work well in Skyrim), and things that you hated (and you wouldn't like to see in Skyrim).

Things I want to see, which were in either Fallout 3 or New Vegas:

  • hardcoe mode
  • No level scaling
  • Diverse environments / no procedurally generated areas and dungeons
  • Loot being pre-determined and not randomly placed depending on what level you are at
  • A great variety of voice actors (I thought the actor who played Vulpes Inculta was really perfect at the part he played)
  • A faction reputation system

Things I DON'T want to see:

  • The bad musical score (particularly because of how repetitive it is, especially after 100+ hours game)
  • The gamebryo engine, with it's many glitches, such as the one where if you move anything on a table, everything on that table slides around. Also glitches to do with people's body parts rotating all over the place
  • The really bad controls when walking up hills (this is especially true for Skyrim, which is a mountainous province)
  • The way your camera zooms in front of people's faces when you talk to them. I don't know why, but I never liked this.

What about you guys?

I want none of the contents and vats

I want the dialog, perks, the thing were you can loot the weapon off the body and not the ground, companions, level scaling system like NV, and level system for the character. Some slow motion kills wouldn't be bad though. Oh and 1 more perfect thing that fallout added was the shader system for the actual camera and not just the character they need this in the next ES, the only shader for Oblivion was that one where the screen went all blurry

I want a keychain like in Fallout 3. When I'm playing Oblivion I have to scroll through hundreds of keys, which takes quite some time. In Fallout they had a handy little keychain with every key you had on it. I'd like to see that one in Skyrim :)

Do want-

Extreme gore.
Bodily dismemberment.
A soundtrack with a similar mood of isolation but fantasy themed.
sixy realistic armors like the leather armor in FALLOUT 3 was.
Factions, merchants and npcs with that same aliveness of the ones in FALLOUT 3.
Optional hardcoe Mode similar to FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS tweaked for a rpg setting.
Children.
Music folder system of FALLOUT 3 so it'll be easy just to toss in ones own music if one wishes.
Editor to create Mods for those into such creative expression.

Dont want-

Blocked land zones too close to each other that look like one can walk to them but cant.
FALLOUT NEW VEGAS music folder system. I still havent installed any of my own music due to fear of making the game crash so i use Winamp instead in the background.
