Just Started a Role Playing Character

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:29 pm

I've just started a male imperial crusader who is a wealthly retired imperial legion soldier who just returned home from Morrowind. He is retired but is never off duty if he sees any wrong doers he will bring them to justice. Despite recieving a large pension every week from the legion he takes on various odd jobs for money. He loves swimming and jogging. He occasionally bets on arena matches but after seeing the deaths take place he decides it is immoral. He loves to read and drink alcoholic beverages, he detests skooma. He will not kill unless he really has no choice. He always gives coins to beggars, he worships the nine. His overall goal in life is to become immortal so he can protect the people of Tamriel for all eternity. I have not thought of a name for this character yet any suggestions would be appreciated. Right now he is called Cocius a name I got from a name generator, but this name and all other imperial names in the gen don't seem to suit him.

Here are some Imperial names I like. You can just mix any first name with any last name:
First names: Attelian, Atteli, Falcedon, Marsius, Albecius, Ignatius, Vodus, Glallian, Gladius, Caccian, Gaius, Cassius
Last names: Laenius, Gravius, Rulician, Maro, Apinia, Prentus, Vinipter

eg: Cassius Vinipter is pretty cool.

There is no right or wrong way to roleplay. I just give my character the basics though, then let her show me over hundreds of hours what her preferences are and what her true nature is. For example, if you are just starting this character, how do you know he dislikes betting at the Arena? Are you roleplaying him or simply giving him a script to march to? Just a thought. :)

I like a lot of those names I think I may use Gladius, it sounds like a Crusader name. I know my character hates arena betting because he is a good guy and sees men fighting to the death for entertainment as immoral. Apparently as I boy he used to see matches with his father when they used to be just fist fights until 1 person gives up. Now he goes to the arena completely unaware of the arena's deathwatch direction and is horrified at what has become of the sport he once cherished. Anyway that's what a came up with.

I did a similar character (Luther Martinus). The stereotypical Imperial in Oblivion tends to be a bit moralistic and 'missionary', so it offers good opportunities for roleplay.

I did the Main Quest and Knights of the Nine.

Of the above randomly-generated names, I like Cassius Gravius.

I like that name also I may use the first name for a Imperial noble, but so far I'm using Gladius as a first name for my Crusader now to find a suitable last name. Since he a wealthy Imperial Legion veteran, I'm trying to find a name that makes him sound like he is of high class. I am also planning to do the Main quest and the Knights of the Nine, maybe the Fighter's Guild.

I also did a similar character- Imperial Paladin called Petrose Riversur meaning "small rock from the river above". He did the Main Quest, Fighters Guild, Knights of the Nine, and at least part of the Mages Guild.

Any ideas for a last name for a imperial male named Gladius? Any suggestions for a good house for a wealthy retired legion soldier to live in? Currently he is living in Bravil, because he likes swimming so he swims in the Niben bay everyday it's not raining. I choose the town because of the proximity to the bay and because it needs protecting from the daedroth that I have no ideas why they are in the towns limits. A mod was supposed to add daedroth to the imperial sewers but somehow they are in Bravil also, so I'm currently living here to protect the people from the daedroth. Any suggestions for a better place to live?

Last name? Not sure, but I can help with the dwelling. I just discovered a small house with a farm, sheep, and stable area, PLUS a pond. Seems like a great place for a retiree, and it's essentially free. All you gotta do is locate it (which isn't too hard). :) It's called

Shardrock
and it's got beds you can sleep in. There is one inhabitant, but he's a mellow Breton. He gets one bed, you get the other...unless you want to kill him (that's what my dark elf witch did last nite!) but beware, for if you kill him you'll not be able to finish a small quest linked to him.

From what I've noticed, the house's chest and cupboard do NOT respawn, which is useful for storing stuff. I made sure of this by putting stuff in them, and then waiting over 3 days before looking back in the chest & cupboard.

So what's the background on your new character? Why was he in jail?

I may check that place out. I said he was retired but that is just what the Legion told him he is actually never off duty. I will stay in Bravil until the Daedroth invasion stops then I will go to Shadrock with some Legion guards and arrest that Breton for poaching and fishing without a permit. Then I will move into the house.

Gladius was never in jail, he came in on a ship from Morrowind where he was stationed. I have a alternate start mod, so I didn't go through the prison/uriel septims death.

Zakarius Svedlin :)

That's a sweet name. May I use it for a NPC? Right now I've decided that character's name is Gladius Arcadia, older brother of Claudius Arcadia. I am going to role play a storyline for these brothers.
