Unsure if this should have gone into the Tech forum but here goes...

I've accidentally deleted my paladin save (my favourite character) and it's not in the recycle bin. However, there are four saves in the bin which I deleted about a week ago so I'm confused.

The paladin had completed the Knights of the Nine, Main Quest, almost all of the Fighter's Guild and had done all the mage guild reccommendations.

Anyone know how I can retrieve the lost save?

If you deleted it, it should be in the recycle bin. If you (even accidentally) hold down Shift while pressing delete, it's permanently removed, and in that case, there is, unfortunately, no way to retrieve it. Check your recycle bin again.

Not true, windows never permanantly deletes files, it just marks the file invisible and tells the operating system that the space is available,

Squirrel93, checked recycle bin again, had 32 items in it but not my save. The saves I mentioned in my opening post were deleted at the end of August (not a week ago as previously stated) so don't understand why they are still in and not my paladin.

Lizarious, thanks for the link, lovely little program that found scores of deleted files but not my paladin unfortunately. The only deleted Oblivion saves it found were two I deleted 4 days ago. Actually those two weren't in the recycle bin either, weird,

And yes, I checked my saves folder and it's definitely gone!

Anyway, thanks to both of you for answering. I will start him again. Good job he was my favourite character so it won't be too frustrating re-starting him.
