Skyrim map?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:55 am

So I was surfing the web earlier when I came across this: http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr298/messiah_07/SkyrimMap.jpg

Has this been mentioned before? Sorry if I missed a topic about this, I'm just curious, Anybody know anything about it? Who made it? When? Just looks well made.....too well made if you ask me.

That is the established "lore map" of Skyrim which will likely differ from the game version, just as the established "lore map" of Cyrodiil differed from the way it was represented in Oblivion.

Should have made it more clear; I already knew what Skyrim looked like and where it was in relation to the rest of the provinces, I was refering to that map in particular, I haven't seen it anywhere before and it piqued my curiosity.

Yes, I don't think the map in the original post is authentic. The devs will undoubtedly make the Skyrim map more complex than the one in the lore section but that one in the op is not real.

Thought so, still, whoever made it had to have been devoted, IMO it's pretty good quality for a fan map.

Ah, right. In which case, since I don't recall seeing that particular one before, I'd guess it's a fan-made map based on the established map given to us by Bethesda.

Each map packaged with the collectors edition will be printed on a real, stretched, tanned wild boar hide, and they will be printed by hand by burning the marks directly into the hide with a heated iron stylus. The maps will be rolled up and carefully packaged in an ornately carved wooden tube depicting the history of Skyrim in a spiral pattern from top to bottom. Each map and tube will be blessed by the Nine Divines via a timely ritual performed personally by Todd Howard and Pete Hines. The ritual will permanently enchant the tube and cause it to shimmer and deliver a mild electric shock when held.

I could be mistaken, but I thought that was a map created by the TR project.

from the watermark in the bottom left corner, it appears to be made by Vality7
somewhere along the line he made a ton of map resources and such, so I guess he did this along the way

Authentic or not, I think it's pretty well done. Especially the snow coverage.

http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum/download.php?id=15489 is a higher resolution version of Vality7's map.

It looks really great, I hope we will see most, if not all, of the cities, towns and villages shown on the map.

Anything less would render the "collectors edition" a waste of money.

There we go then, never noticed the watermark, still, should be interesting to compare this to the beth version when it is shown.

We wont. Not even close. I'd hope for more towns than we got in Oblivion though. Even if a lot of them are (as they should be, really) small Hla Oad or Gnaar Mok type villages.

They will. My tiny backwater town here is bigger and has more services than the Imperial City. It all comes down to hardware and game engine limitations, really. I just hope they make the illusion of size bigger. Christ, Vivec seemed massive.

All of the maps have been fairly reflective of each other with regards to size.

Judging by the size of Oblivion, it would place Skyrim as a couple of hundred km sq. I doubt that'll be the case, but I'm hoping for atleast 50-100!

Vality makes some awesome maps. There's a couple of locations on this map I don't approve of, but that's no problem.
