Suggestion for fun / RP build

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:10 am

My last meele build was a catastrophy, I made it for the expansion but I realised they were not my cup of tea. I love this game for the wasteland feel, the Pitt didn't do it for me and the cold war simulation was just horrific (turned this sweet RPG into a run of the mill FPS).

So now I'm starting over. I've played regular Fallout 3 trough 2 times, I've done far from everything, but the mainquest and quests around it (the must do's) feel pretty boring. My plan is to wander aimlessly trough the wasteland, scavenging and doing quests I haven't encountered before.

My question is does anyone have a suggestion for a fun character setup. I think I will stick with range this time, is there anyway to spice things up? Using only handguns perhaps, then again that svcks. Sniping is always fun, especially for a lone wanderer exploring the wasteland.

So what Special stats you recommend for this kind of character? I assume high INT and low CHR since I won't run across to many books or max out my character any time soon.

Any fun perks I might want to take a look? Just brainstorm here, give me some examples of weird, cool or good builds you played.

Thank you very much for your time!

If your on PC, you could really spice things up a bit with FWE and MMM mod, FWE also allows far far better role play..

Maybe try an Android role play who believes humans have run their course and their further existence will only destroy the planet...

FWE seems truly awesome! Is there anything I should think about when creating a character with this mod? Stats/perks etc...

The very game play itself changes when you add FWE and MMM mod, it really gives you a level of fear when going through the wasteland, especially at night. Character creation depends on you really, there is no best way.

At the moment, I'm trying a Wasteland Hunter - you know, those guys who sell you meat? The legit ones, not the Strange Meat hunters (anyone besides me notice that only the SM hunters wear real armor - albeit leather. The others just wear various Wastelander outfits. Note to Vaulties - if the hunters don't tell you what kind of meat it is, DON'T eat it.) I'm going to be wearing better armor than those guys, though. Ideally, I want to get that leather armor that gives you +10 Small Guns (I forget what it's called).
Stats:
S - 5
P - 7
E - 6
C - 5
I - 5
A - 7
L - 5

Once out of the vault and getting my first perk, I took the Training option and boosted Strength by one (gotta be able to carry all that stuff home). Since there's no perks of interest to me until about fourth level, I'll probably take training a couple more times and improve my Luck and Agility, or maybe Perception. Dogmeat can be of assistance; dogs have been used for hunting for centuries. I just got my first Hunting Rifle - just gotta get it fixed up and I'll be ready to go find my armor. Too bad it's in such dangerous territory - around the Academy.

I just made this one up and having a great time with it. Ranged energy weapon based brainiac. Tech collector for RP purposes.

This is NOT an efficient build, but aimed to make the game a little more challenging.

You can’t carry much, can’t take damage, very easy to get crippled. Low AP makes V.A.T.S secondary.

High critical attack rate and high perception allows you to still be viable in battle.

Out of battle, high perception and intelligence gives you bonus to science, repair, pick, meds, explosives.

Charisma is high enough to get charisma based perks.

P: 10

C: 6
I: 10
A: 2
L: 10

Tagged: Energy weapons, sneak, lockpick

Karma: Neutral

Recomedned perks: better criticals, chemist, chem resistant, child at heart, comprehension, cyborg, Daddy’s girl/boy (3), educated, entomologist, finesse, impartial mediation, infiltrator, robotics expert, survival guru (+3 to crit chance).

Give it try! My favorite character yet!

A Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde character might be fun. Walk around in a labcoat trying to avoid combat as much as possible. Use mines and try to lure enemies onto them.
If enemies do get close use some Buffout to turn into Mr. Hyde and equip a Deathclaw Gauntlet.
When in Hyde-mode you attack friend and foe alike.
You can only switch back to Jekyll by finding a bed to sleep in.

Haha, I love these suggestions! Hard to decide, think I'll stick to close to Wasteland wanderer RP, but a twist would be nice!

Keep up the good suggestions!
