Julie's Exploration

One question:

Since this is four years after the story of fallout 3, has the water of the land been purified? Is there plant life again?

One more question: And if you include broken steel, are their almost no remnants of the enclave left?

Actually, this is 12 years after the events of Fallout 3. I am writing the story as if all of the DLC's existed, and the Lone Wanderer had done them all. As for the plant life, that's a good question. The LW in this story would have been good (Megaton wasn't a crater) so the Purifier would have been turned on and be FEV-free. I'm not sure about the plants...

About the Enclave, I was thinking about that. You'll just have to see where the story takes it. Thanks for the questions!

--Julie's Exploration - Chapter Four--

January 8th, 2289.

When Julie woke up, she was drenched in sweat. She used to have nightmares about the Massacre every night for two years after it happened, until she met Venustas. Her Yao Guai had been with her since she was seven, and aided her with everything. He was Julie's only friend, and he reminded her of the Teddy Bear she had when she was younger.

Venustas woke up and sniffed Julie while she lay down on the desert floor. Julie started giggling because his fur was tickling her as it rubbed against her arm. "Stop it, Venustas!" she said in between laughs. The Yao Guai rolled over and showed his stomach, implying that he wanted his belly rubbed. Julie gladly complied.

She pet the Yao Guai until she heard a familiar voice call her name out in the distance. It was Paladin Hammett, accompanied by Knight Sinclair. Julie waved at the two men and got up to greet them. She avoided the Frag Mines and ran towards them.

"Hello, misters! What are you guys doing here?" she asked as she ran up to them.
"We decided we were going to ask you if you want to come with us on a Water Distribution run. I know how much you love exploring!" he replied. Julie looked ecstatic as he told her about it.

"We go around handing out Aqua Pura to the inhabitants of the Capital Wasteland. We brought three whole cases of it with us this trip. Do you want to help?" The offer was too good to be true. Julie couldn't keep her excitement in.
"Of course I want to go!" she exclaimed. This was the happiest she had been since she met Venustas. "Where exactly are we going to go?"

Julie had always wanted to travel around the Capital Wasteland. Her favourite thing to do was explore, and these two men were offering her a chance to explore a huge part of the Wasteland. She was so happy that she forgot about the nightmare she had been having.

"Well, we plan on heading to a place called Arefu to deliver some Aqua Pura there, then we're going to head towards the Republic of William to deliver some more there. Then, we're going to drop by a few old friends of ours in a small underground settlement just West of the Republic of William." Hammett explained.

Julie called Venustas over, and the Yao Guai carefully maneuvered around the Frag Mines and headed towards the group.

"Now, this trip is going to take a few days. And we might have to head back to the Citadel to grab some more Aqua Pura. Are you sure you want to come?" asked Sinclair. Julie looked at him as if he asked her if she wanted all her hair ripped out.

"Of course I want to come! I've never been to Arefu, or the Republic of William. And you know I love to explore!" she replied. Hammett and Sinclair both smiled, and the group began heading to Arefu.

"Don't you want to take anything from your home, Julie?" asked Hammett.
"No, it will all still be here when I get back." she replied.
"Okay, let's get going!" Sinclair exclaimed.

After half an hour of walking, the group decided to take a break. They cracked open a case of Aqua Pura and all drank a bottle each. Julie had never tasted water that was so pure, and so clean. It was amazing to her.

Julie, Hammett, Sinclair, and Venustas then continued on their journey to Arefu. Julie was humming that popular pre-war show tune as they went.

Sorry about the delay. I've been having some troubles writing Chapter Five. But here it is! This is a three-part Chapter. I'll release them shortly after one another.

--Julie's Exploration - Chapter Five (Part 1/3)--

January 8th, 2289.

Julie and Venustas trailed behind Hammett and Sinclair as they headed to Arefu. Julie's mother described Arefu as a small cluster of houses on a Highway bridge. When the group arrived there, Julie realized it had grown since her mother had last seen it.

Arefu was now a giant market settlement, with little stores and shops scattered all across the bridge. There were even some houses on the ground under the bridge. It was massive, and filled with people buying and selling items.

Hammett told Sinclair to stay behind and watch Venustas while him and Julie went up to speak to someone. Julie and Hammett made their way through the crowded street, and Hammett received greetings from some of the townspeople.

The two reached a house at the end of the bridge. Hammett knocked on the door with one hand, while carrying a case of Aqua Pura under the other. A few seconds later, a boy who looked to be about Julie's age answered the door.

"Hey, Devon!" Hammett said to the boy. "Is your father home?" The boy ran into the house and called for his father. An older-looking man then came to the door.

"Well, it's about damned time you guys showed up! We've been dying out here for days, now! I sent some folk out to gather some water awhile ago, and they still haven't came back!" shouted the man. Hammett gave him an annoyed look and handed him the case of Aqua Pura.

Julie and Hammett turned around and walked away. "Would you like anything while we're here, Julie?" Hammett asked her. Julie looked around at the various stalls and shops, scanning them for anything that looked interesting. Julie was about to turn down Hammett's offer, when she saw a Teddy Bear for sale at one of the stalls.

"I really want that Teddy Bear over there!" Julie replied. Hammett smiled and walked her over to the stall. He asked the man at the stall how much he wanted for the bear. The man wanted fifty caps for it.
"Woah!" Hammett said. "That's a lot of caps for a Teddy Bear." He reached into his backpack for some caps, but before he could get them out, Julie gave the man fifty of her own caps. The man gave her the Teddy Bear, and the two left Arefu.

"Where did you get so many caps, Julie?" Hammett asked her.
"I've been saving up for a long time!" she replied. They reached Sinclair and Venustas, and the group then continued heading Northeast to the Republic of William.

Julie held the Teddy Bear tightly in her arms as she walked. It reminded her of the one she had during the Massacre. She remembered how she had lost the backpack with all her things shortly after leaving Megaton when she moved into Tenpenny Tower for a few short weeks.

The sun started setting. It was 7:15pm, and the group still had about an hour of walking left. It would be nightfall before they reached the Republic of William. The group decided that they would continue walking until they got there. Hammett and Sinclair were good friends with the people of the Republic of William, and figured that they would let them stay the night.

An hour later, the group saw the Republic of William in front of them. It was much larger than Julie had expected, and it looked like new houses were being built. The group walked to the gate, and Hammett pressed the button on the intercom next to it. A woman answered it.

"Welcome to the Republic of William. Please state your business here." said the woman.
"This is Knight Sinclair and Paladin Hammett of the Brotherhood of Steel," Hammett answered. "We are here because the Citadel received a call from William about needing water, and we're here to supply it." The gate unlocked and opened in front of them, and the group stepped in.

They were immediately greeted by a man with a scruffy beard. "Oh, thank you!" he said. "We're completely out of water..." Hammett handed him a case of Aqua Pura; the man smiled and took it into a large building in the center of town. Hammett lead the group to a building, and told Venustas that he had to wait outside. Venustas growled in disappointment, but complied. The rest went inside.

The first thing Julie noticed when they entered was a large desk at the entrance. There was a woman sitting in a chair behind it looking at a Terminal. "Welcome to the Republic of William. If you're looking for Will, he's out hunting with that Ghoul friend of his, Charon." The woman had a disgusted look on her face.

"We're just here to drop off some water, and we're wondering if you have a place for us to stay." The woman started typing something into the Terminal, and then told them that there are unoccupied rooms in the town hotel. Hammett thanked the woman as they left.

The group headed for the hotel, but before they went in, Hammett told Venustas he would have to sleep outside, because they wouldn't allow a Yao Guai inside the hotel. He lead Venustas to a small pen next to the hotel, and the rest went inside.

The hotel was four stories high, and made completely out of scrap metal and wood. The lobby was full of people trying to get a room. Hammett, Sinclair and Julie all took the stairs to the third floor, and found their rooms. They were nice rooms; they all had radio, a view from their window, a nice bed, and a closet for them to put their things. Julie hadn't slept in a nice bed since she lived in Tenpenny Tower.

They all immediately went to bed, anticipating the next day's trip. Julie dreamed of her stay at Tenpenny Tower.

--Julie's Exploration - Chapter Five (Part 2/3)--

Four years earlier...

Julie reached Tenpenny Tower safely, and walked up to the front gate intercom. She reached for the button, but wasn't tall enough to press it. She jumped up and smacked the intercom with the palm of her hand, which pressed the button. A man answered the intercom.

"What do you want?" asked the man.
"My family was just killed and I was wondering if I could sleep here." Julie replied.
"How old are you?" asked the man, after hearing Julie's oddly high voice.
"I'm five years old. How old are you?" she said.
"Very funny... You got any caps?" said the man sarcastically.
"I don't think so. Why?" she asked.
"Because if you don't have any caps, you're not getting into Tenpenny Tower." he replied.

Julie didn't have any caps, so she looked around on the floor to see if anybody had dropped one. After a couple minutes of searching, she found a cap. She walked back up to the intercom and pressed the button.

"I found a cap, mister!" she said. The man laughed.
"It's gonna take a lot more than a cap to get in here. You have anything you can give me?" he said.
"I have my Teddy Bear and my mommy's necklace, and a knife!" she replied.
"It's not much, but you can come in if you give me that." he said. The gate opened, and Julie walked in.

People were chatting and drinking tea at nice, clean tables. Julie stared at the giant fountain; she had never seen anything like it.

"You really are five years old!" said the man. Julie reluctantly gave him her backpack of things. "Look, Mr. Burke would have my head if I let you stay inside the building for so little. But I'll tell you what... you can stay out here and sleep in one of the Guard beds if you'd like. You can't stay for long, though."

Julie didn't like it, but she was appreciative. She thanked the man and sat down in one of the empty beds outside. It was comfortable. She lay her head down on the pillow and looked up at the massive building. She couldn't believe what had just happened to her that night. She was angry that she had to give the man her mother's necklace, her Teddy Bear, and the Combat Knife that Simms had given her.

She didn't sleep well that night. Thoughts of her mother, and what she was going to do next rang through her head. She eventually fell asleep.

The next morning, she was awoken by a tall man wearing a white business suit and Pre-War hat.
"Who are you?" he said in an intimidating voice.
"My name is Julie. Who are you?" she replied.
"I am Mr. Burke, the owner of this building. Who are you here with?"
"I'm not here with anybody," she replied. "My family is all gone."
"And how are you paying to stay here?" Burke asked.
"I gave the man at the gate all my things. He said I could sleep in one of these beds." she replied.

Burke looked back at the man at the gate. The man saw Burke's glare and tried to look away, pretending he didn't know what was going on. He knew Julie had told Burke what he did for her.

"If you're going to stay here, you're going to have to work. In exchange, however, you can sleep in one of the suites." Burke said. "I don't want you outside with the guards. It makes this building look... less intimidating."

Julie did what she was told, and had to clean up around the building. She had to wash the stairs, which residents of the building would pleasantly step their dirty shoes on while she cleaned, simply to laugh and throw a few caps at her. Julie hated it, but she got to sleep in one of the building's suites upstairs.

Julie had to clean the Allistair Tenpenny Memorial located outside the building. It was quite large, and wrote "R.I.P. Allistair Tenpenny: 2197 - 2277." It then went on to describe what an amazing man Allistair Tenpenny was. A massive picture of his face was etched into the memorial.

Julie loved the bed she slept in. It was unbelievably comfortable, and the blankets were always clean and made. What she hated was working for Burke. After three weeks, Julie was so tired she could barely hold a sponge. Burke noticed.

He approached her one day to talk about how she wasn't working hard enough. "I've noticed you're not doing so well with the tasks I've assigned you," he said. "If you can't work hard at Tenpenny Tower, you can't live here, either."

"Please, Mr. Burke!" she pleaded. "I have nowhere else to stay. My family was killed by Raiders, and my home was burned down! I'll die out there... please don't kick me out!"
"If you can't work, you can't stay here. If I see you trying to sneak in, I'll have you transported by guards to a far away location. Now leave!" he ordered.

Julie began crying, and ran for the gates. She reached the gate, and the man who let her stay there spoke to her.

"Did Burke throw you out?" he asked. Julie nodded. "I'd help you out, but I need this job. I can't afford to be fired. Burke's already thinking of firing me, and I have a family to feed. I'm sorry, kid."

"Can I have my stuff back?" Julie asked.
"Burke already took it all and sold it to some Scavengers. They headed East if you really want to get you're stuff back." the man replied.

Julie left, tears running down her face. She had nothing. She then started heading East.

Julie awoke from her slumber by Hammett. "Come on, Julie. It's time to get moving."

The final part of Chapter Five! I haven't been getting many comments lately... If you're out of good comments, feel free to post bad ones! I'd be glad to improve my story if it needs it. Anyways... enjoy! :)

--Julie's Exploration - Chapter Five (Part 3/3)--

January 9th, 2289.

Hammett startled Julie by knocking on the hotel door and telling her to wake up. Julie rubbed her eyes and slowly got up. She put her shoes on, checked the time on her Pip-Boy, and left the hotel room; she made the bed before leaving.

They walked down the stairs and made their way to the hotel lobby. On their way out of the hotel, Sinclair noticed that Venustas was no longer in his pen. Looking alarmed, Hammett searched the streets for any sign of the Yao Guai. All of a sudden, there was a scream in the distance.

The group ran to the source of scream, and stopped when they spotted Venustas. He was playing with two little boys from the town and catching a Frisbee with his mouth. He had pounced one of the boys and started licking his face. The boy laughed.

Julie called Venustas over and the four then headed West to their next destination.

"Where are we going?" Julie asked Hammett.
"There's an underground settlement just West of here that I think you'll like." he replied.

They walked for about thirty minutes, and reached what seemed to be an empty desert. There was nothing nearby. Hammett walked over to a small bush and lifted open a hatch that was under it. In the hatch, there was a keypad. He entered a series of numbers, and the desert floor next to it began to open. It was a giant door in the ground. Julie watched as the ground opened up.

The group headed inside. There were a set of stairs leading to a large metal door, with a terminal next to it. Hammett typed something into the terminal, and the door opened; the group entered.

Inside, there were couches, a bar, a pool table and many other interesting things. Julie sat on the couch and was amazed at how comfortable it was. Hammett and Sinclair sat on a stool next to the bar. There were other people casually sitting and chatting, and one person was working the bar.

"Hey guys! What can I get you, today?" asked the man at the bar. He was short and had scruffy, blue hair.
"We'll just take a couple Beers," replied Sinclair. The bartender reached into a cooler and handed them two Beers. Hammett and Sinclair immediately began drinking.
"Who's the kid?" asked the man.
"She's with us on a water distribution trip." Hammett replied. The man looked over at Julie, who was watching the fully-working Television. It was only playing commercials for Vault-Tec and Super-Duper Mart, but she had never seen a TV and was completely amazed.

"Hey kid, you want anything?" the bartender asked.
"Do you have any Nuka Cola?" she replied.
"I sure do!" he replied, grabbing a Nuka Cola from his cooler. He passed it to Julie, who thanked him for it and gave him a few caps. "Thanks, kid." he said.

"Mr. Hammett," Julie said. "Why are we here? It doesn't look like they need water."
"We're just here to relax. We had Carl here send a fake distress signal for Aqua Pura to the Citadel so we could head over here and just lounge for a little bit." he replied. Julie thought the plan was brilliant.

"What is this place, anyways?" Julie asked, while sipping her Nuka Cola.
"This is Carl's Crater. It's a little club for a select amount of people. It also has bedrooms for people if they need a place to stay." Sinclair told her. He finished his Beer and tossed the bottle into a garbage can from across the room.

The room was dimly lit with red and blue lights. It had a very safe atmosphere, and made people feel relaxed when they entered. It was quiet, except for the sound of the TV and people quietly talking.

"Did William pass through here, Carl?" Hammett asked.
"Yeah, he was just here with Charon a couple hours ago."
"Did you hear about his dog dying?"
"Yeah, sad news... That dog had to have been fifteen years old, at least."

Hammett and Carl pvssyd about things for a few minutes, while Julie watched a commercial for 'Fancy Lad Snack Cakes' and drank her Nuka Cola. She had the Teddy Bear in her arm.

Venustas stumbled over and jumped on the couch next to Julie. The couch almost wasn't big enough to fit him on it.

"Hey! What's a Yao Guai doing in here?" Carl said while he loaded his Hunting Rifle.
"Relax, he seems to be friendly." Sinclair replied. Carl put the rifle away and went back to cleaning glasses.

After a few hours, Julie grew tired, and the group knew they had to go. "Could I spend the night here, Mr. Carl?" Julie asked. Carl looked sympathetic. He told her he could spend one night here for free, but after that it would cost one hundred caps a night.

Hammett and Sinclair stayed the night, as well. Venustas also got to sleep in his own room, in his own Queen-Sized Bed. "Goodnight, Julie." Hammett said to Julie as he turned her room's light off and headed to his own. "Goodnight, Mr. Hammett." she replied.

She closed her eyes and went to sleep.

In the last update, i felt like it needed more description with emotional content.

Like when Carl begins to load his hunting rifle, Sinclair says hes friendly, he goes back to cleaning glasses. It felt too jerky. You could try and describe that he placed the rifle closer to him than usual and felt a little more tense.

Yao Guai are one of the most fiercest creatures in the wasteland, nobody can just instantly accept that its going to be friendly and calm.

I don't know, just my thoughts.

--Julie's Exploration - Chapter Six--

January 10th, 2289.

Sinclair walked over to the bar and sat on one of the stools. It was early in the morning, and Carl hadn't gotten up yet to open the bar. Nobody had gotten up yet; not even Julie. Galaxy News Radio was quietly playing from a Jukebox in the background, but it was the only source of sound.

After a few minutes of patiently sitting alone, Julie awoke and sat next to Sinclair. "Good morning." she said to him.
"Good morning, Julie." he replied.
"Did you have a good sleep?" she asked him.
"I guess. What about you?"
"It was okay."

Sinclair noticed that Julie looked extremely tired. "You look like you haven't been sleeping much, kid. Anything on your mind?"
"No. I've just been having these dreams lately," Julie replied. She went on to tell him about what happened to her family, and how she had been dreaming about her experience over the past few nights. It was a real bonding experience for the two of them.

Julie finished her story.
"That's rough, kid. That's almost worse than what happened to my family." Sinclair said. "When I was just a kid, a little older than you are now, my family was killed by Super Mutants. They tore through my home and ripped my parents apart. They dragged my big brother, Hal, off to one of their camps. They probably killed him, or fed him to Centaurs."

Julie genuinely felt bad about what happened to Sinclair's family. She could relate to how he felt because of what happened to her when she was only five years of age. The two then casually talked about their trip, and about life in the Wasteland.

After about an hour of talking, Hammett came out into the room where Julie and Sinclair were speaking, followed by Venustas. Carl then woke up and served them all drinks; Julie had another Nuka Cola.

"We need to get moving, guys. It's almost noon." Hammett remarked. The group said their goodbyes to everybody in Carl's Crater, and left. Hammett made sure to close the door to Carl's Crater before they took off.

"Where are we going, now?" Julie asked the two men.
"Well, I guess me and Sinclair have to head back to the Citadel." Hammett replied.
"I doubt you could come in with us, Julie. We had a fun time, though!" Sinclair said.
"We'll drop you and Venustas off at home, and hopefully we'll see each other eventually," Hammett told her. "Maybe we'll drop by some time!"

Hammett and Sinclair needed to walk right through Julie's home in order to get to the Citadel, so they agreed to walk them there.

As they approached Julie's home, they noticed a small patrol of other Brotherhood of Steel men heading in there direction. "What are they doing here?" Sinclair asked. "This is our patrol route!"

The patrol of five approached Hammett and Sinclair.

"Paladin Jon Hammett, and Knight Leonardo Sinclair?" the leading man asked. "We were sent here by General Sarah Lyons to execute you."
"What?!" Hammett exclaimed. "Why?"
"Endangering a child's life, stealing Brotherhood supplies, and potential exposure of Brotherhood information." the leader replied.

Julie noticed Sinclair pulled the pin out of a Grenade behind his back. He held it in his hand and gave a distinguished look at Hammett; the men nodded at each other discretely. The patrol began to load their rifles, and Sinclair got ready to throw the Grenade.

As if they did it instantly, Hammett and Sinclair had their guns out and ready before even one of the patrol men could get one gun out. Sinclair tossed the Grenade into the patrol, and began firing his 10mm Sub Machine Gun at them. The grenade exploded, throwing two of the men into the air. Hammett and Sinclair continued firing.

It was an epic firefight, and Hammett took cover behind a rock. Sinclair was getting shot at in three different directions. Julie and Venustas joined Hammett in cover. Just as they thought Sinclair was done for, Venustas jumped over the rock and charged at the remaining Steel men.

While they were distracted, Hammett fired his Assault Rifle at them. Venustas finished off the remaining man with one swipe of his giant paw. The fight was over. Hammett and Julie rushed over to Sinclair to see if he was still alive.

Sinclair was coughing up blood, and had bullet wounds on his arms and chest. Hammett took out a few Stimpaks and stabbed them into the body parts most injured. Julie didn't think he would make it, and began to cry.

After a couple minutes of complete silence, Sinclair made a loud cough and looked around. "Guys? Am I dead?" he asked while giving confused looks to both of them.

"Sinclair! Are you okay?" Hammett asked.
"Nothing a few Stimpaks and a Beer won't fix," he replied. "Hammett... Lyons wants us dead. What are we going to do?"
"I don't know..." Hammett said. "If we go back to the Citadel and try to explain ourselves, they'll kill us. We just murdered an entire patrol of Steel soldiers."

Julie felt terrible. It was her fault that Hammett and Sinclair were being hunted, and there was nothing they could do, now. Sinclair walked over to Venustas and started petting him. "Venustas, you just saved my life," he said. "Julie, you've got one talented Yao Guai." Julie tried to smile, but she couldn't. Not under those circumstances. Hammett took the Holotags off of the deceased Brotherhood of Steel soldiers.

The group headed off into the Wastes, not knowing what they would do next.

Here's Chapter Seven! Part two coming soon.

--Julie's Exploration - Chapter Seven (Part 1/2)--

January 10th, 2289.

"We need to get this Power Armour off," Hammett said. "They can find out where we are using a tracking device in the suit."
"I'm not running around in my underwear, Hammett." Sinclair responded.
"Maybe we won't have to..." Hammett said, while looking out into the distance. A group of Scavengers were traveling through the Wastes in search of goodies, and Hammett got an idea.

The group approached the Scavengers, who were startled by Venustas. When they realized the Yao Guai wasn't ripping them apart, they settled down. "Hello, gentlemen!" Hammett said to them. "We have a proposition for you." The Scavengers looked intrigued.

Sinclair clued in to what Hammett wanted to do. "We would like to trade our Power Armour for your Wasteland outfits. No catches whatsoever! We're just..." Hammett thought of an excuse. "We're just really hot out here in the Wasteland!"

The Scavengers agreed that it was a good trade, and they switched clothing. Julie covered her eyes as everybody changed.

The two groups then separated; Hammett and Sinclair were wearing Wasteland clothing. Julie thought they looked strange now that they weren't wearing large suits of Power Armour.
"Won't the Brotherhood track and kill them now that they're wearing it?" Sinclair asked.
"Perhaps," Hammett replied. "Would you rather them or us?"
"Good point. Let's keep moving." Sinclair stated.

The four of them continued heading into the Wasteland. There was nothing nearby, not even a small settlement of some sort. "Well, now that we're not heading back to the Citadel, do you want to stick with us, Julie?" Sinclair asked.
"Are you crazy, Sinclair?!" Hammett exclaimed. "If the Brotherhood finds us, they'll kill all of us! Including Julie and Venustas. She must be brought home."
"We could use Venustas. You saw how he took down those Brotherhood guys!" Sinclair argued.

The two of them disputed about whether or not Julie should stay or go. They fought until they were interrupted by a man and his Ghoul friend.

"Gentlemen!" the man said. "There's no need to fight, now, is there?" The man was tall and mysterious-looking. He had a Hunting Rifle on his back, and a Scopeless .44 Magnum holstered by his side.
"William? Charon?" Hammett asked. "What are you guys doing out here?"
"We're just looking around. We heard you guys fighting from quite the distance." the man replied.

Julie remembered the secretary at the Republic of William talking about this man. She looked at the Ghoul. Julie had only ever seen one Ghoul in her life, back in Megaton. His name was Gob.

"What's going on, guys?" William asked.
"Not too much. Sarah Lyons wants us dead, and we're running from the Brotherhood. What about you?" Sinclair replied in a sarcastic tone. William laughed.
"Sounds like you've got alot on your plate." he said. "Maybe I could join with you guys."
"I don't know if that's a good idea," Hammett said. "It's going to be dangerous."
"Are you honestly worried about me? Have you ever even seen a Behemoth? I'll be fine." William spoke while laughing.

It didn't take much persuading from William to make Hammett want to take him along. "Alright, fine." Hammett said. "We're going to need all the help we can get. Especially from the Lone Wanderer himself."

Julie had heard about the Lone Wanderer. He had moved out of Megaton when Julie was four years old, when he had become President of the Republic of Dave, and renamed it the Republic of William. She listened to her mother tell stories about how he helped write the Wasteland Survivor Guide with her.

"Come back to the Republic with me, guys. I want to show you the latest addition to my home." William said. The group followed William to the Republic while chatting about things such as Julie's trip with them, and Venustas being a tamed Yao Guai.

When the six of them reached the Republic, it was coming close to 8:00pm. Venustas wasn't big enough to enter William's home in the Republic, and had to wait in the pen outside of the town's hotel. The rest of them went inside.

William's home was very nice. He had lots of items from the Wasteland on shelves in his home, including strange weapons and gadgets none of them had ever seen. Julie looked around at the different weapons William had showcased around his home. She saw a jar with what looked to be a chunk of brain inside it sitting on a desk in his bedroom.

They walked to a door at the end of the hallway, and William entered a password into a Terminal next to the door. The door opened, revealing a small flight of stairs leading into a dark room. The five of them began walking down the stairs.

It was completely dark inside the room, until William flipped a switch next to the doorway. All of the lights came on at the same time, blinding Julie, Hammett and Sinclair. Julie slowly opened her eyes, but her vision was blurred due to the sudden change of light.

All she could hear was Sinclair saying "Wow!"
