Blender, Morrowind and Weapons

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 8:41 pm

Does anyone know of any tutorials for Blender that teach the necessary steps for weapon modding? The links in the Utilities thread are broken, and most other tutorials only teach you how to model statics, or are for programs other than Blender.

EDIT: never mind, it seems it was just the address in the thread was a bit off.

OK, right, I have another question. I'm building a flintlock rifle in Blender for use in Morrowind, set to function as a crossbow.

Now, when I use it ingame, it tells me that the "arrow bone" is missing. This appears to be the animation for the flight of the arrow. How would I go about placing this in the model? Would it be enough to assign an object in the model to be an "arrow bone"?

I believe it specifically need to be a bone. I've never used Blender before but I think you'll find plenty of tutorials on how to work with bones in Blender. It's been a while since I tried to make a crossbow for Morrowind, but if I remember correctly you'll also need to animate both the crossbow and the bone with the correct frame labels. You might wanna examine a vanilla crossbow in NifSkope to see how that works.

OK, thanks, the tutorials on bones seems straightforward enough.
