- how do I NOT DIE when trying to open chests that are trapped? All I do now is F5 before EVERY CHEST and take the hit, F9ing if I get one-shotted by lightning. If I get then just spam health pots and continue... surely there is another method of living through this?

I make a fortify security spell; fortify security on self 90 for 2 sec.
This almost always gives me an option to disarm the trap and, of course, you can auto-open any lock. All you need is 25 Restoration to make it.

Now that's a good idea. I can't believe I didn't think about it, especially since I have Restoration as a major skill. I've been getting around the Very Hard locks by using the console.
