Fanmade fallout

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 7:28 pm

Hello, some of you may have stumbled across a mod called "fanmade fallout" over the years, you also may have heard of it as "god bless texas" for anyone who has anticipated this mod, i regret to inform you that we have shut down production, shortly after the alpha demo was released. it pains me quite a bit, to see all my mapping work to go to waste. for those of you who dont know the first thing about fanmade fallout, it was a mod that was in production for 7 years. it had a diverse array of characters and story, we did the best we could to stay true to canon, we even had our own talking head sequences and opening video.

Huh? Why? Every other month or so, I'd check on the progress of this thing. Looked really interesting.

Yeah, an explanation would be in order. I've been checking up on it for 4 years already... :(

Possibly a bit too ambitious maybe?

Its a shame, it looked and sounded great.

This is why mods and fan-projects should only be announced when release is imminent.

Note that I don't want anyone to take offense to that. It's just that all too often, a highly ambitious project will suddenly bite the dust when the person or team overextends themselves. I think the community at large would rather have never known about a doomed upcoming project, instead of seeing it die firsthand.

Just my two cents.

It's a real shame, I only personally caught wind of this project a few months ago, and was quite excited to see what would come of it.

Gotta say that the guys had some balls to take on the project in the first place and to keep it going all those years.
