Another crashing post

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 3:40 pm

The reason I started a new crash topic is to highlight the crashing, rather than just adding to the number of posts in other topics.

I would like to start by saying I've played all the Fallout games, from the first PC games to Fallout 3 on Xbox 360 and this New Vegas one now on PS3, and I loved them all. However this latest one may be my last as the continual crashing is starting to get the better of me. The problem I'm suffering seems to be related to transitioning from one area to another, either while walking along when the game pauses, presumably to load area data, or while waiting for the game to load after entering a door, along with a few crashes while attempting to save the game.

I haven't experienced save game corruption, and touch wood I hope I never will, but I have read others have had their game progress halted as a result due to it.

Fallout 3 on the 360 had a few crash related problems, and from what I recall they were of the same transition related nature, but nowhere near as many as this New Vegas release. It seems rather than address the problems of Fallout 3 they have exasperated them.

Bethesda, please listen to your flock, when they say there appear to be serious crashing problems, it just may be true.

What I don't understand is, if this is the same game engine used for Elder Scrolls Oblivion, why did I never once have a freezing issue on Oblivion?? Sure I had slowdown andframerate drop, but never a freeze that ruined hours of gameplay or made the game unplayable. Fallout 3 had freezes galore and The Game Of The Year Edition froze so much on me it was unplayable. Now New Vegas seems to b a total mess as well. What changed in the core game engine from Oblivion to Fallout? I agree that the problem lies within how the game loads new areas......if it's as simple as a small load time and a bnner that reads "Loading Area" like it dd on Oblivion I'm fine with that. We understand that this gme is big and can be difficult to stream the environments, but jus as a note.........Rockstar Games seems to knwo how to do it efficiently.......maye give them a call. They might be able to give you some technical advice as well as an effective customer support plan as well.

Yea this is a problem the game freezes when loading new area or going in and out of a place... I am hopeful there is a fix on this problem but I never had this bad of problems when I was playing Oblivion or FO3 I did get the lag from coming out of say Rivet City in FO3 but the lag and Freezing is making Fallout: New Vegas unplayable I really want to get addicted like I did FO3 and Oblivion but I can't not till these problems get fixed! I tried to remain non talkative but I think its time to say something in hopes this is getting fixed 1st and not some of the bugs I have found some bugs and I could care less its the crashing/freezing that is killing my gameplay! Please Bethesda help us out with curing the problems here =) Thanks Oh btw is there any option to say do what the 360 version does and Install the game to the HDD maybe that will help with the freezing/crashing??

I have the same problem and the 1.01 patch just made the game unplayable. Before the patch I could play for at least three hours before the game started freezing but now it happens in as quick as 20 minutes. Hope that something can fix this soon so I can start playing again.

the patch made my game unplayable too as it now crashes
everytime I try to play it in anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes...

PS3 120gb

crash/freeze.. crash/freeze... I don't understand this...

I don't expect a lot in a game, I never have...
only that I can play it.. that's all I care about...

to be honest, I don't really care what other bugs are there,
it's the constant crashing that ruins this game for me...
the other bugs are nothing to me... I can easily overlook
them... but not this crashing problem, I won't play until
it is fixed.. and if not within a reasonable amount of time..
this customer is gone for good...

After reading elsewhere on this forum I tried freeing up some space on my HDD as it's reported that doing so alleviates the transitional freeze/crash, I'm only using a 60GB drive so it was pretty full. After uninstalling some games from the drive the crashes while loading new area data seem to be less frequent, the game still crashes, but not so much. It might be worth trying for anyone with a full drive and having this type of crash.

After the 1.01 patch, my game now freezes if I so much as look at Gomorrah. Anyone else have this problem?

Great game, but the constant freezing up and the fact that I am forced to reboot is taking the enjoyment out of the experience. Isn't this something that should have been resolved with game testers long before the game came to be released? I am assuming Bethseda had rushed to get the game out on the market because it had Christmas time dollar signs in its eyes. That might also explain why there is NO online content to the game as well, depending on whether you believe the companies weak excuse in deciding not to go that route.
Ah well, money comes before customer satisfaction these days.
