Help with head and hair meshes?

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 8:31 pm

I'm making a few heads and a hair out of existing meshes, and I'm a noob at modeling. (I'm only using is Nifskope for this.) My problem is, the helm meshes on the heads aren't showing up in my game. I've added them in the CS, true enough. They're just invisible, for some reason. The hair works great, but the ears I've added don't show. If someone would initiate me into the ways of merging meshes (or even do the work for me) I'd be their best friend. Forever.

*About the Indoril plume hair, there's a piece of the helm I can't separate from the plume, is there a way for me to fix this? Here's an http://img560.imageshack.us/i/issue.jpg/.

(I'm not "releasing" these, so I didn't think I'd need permission to edit them. I'm using TR heads, Darknut's armors, and, of course, Bethesda's meshes.)

Thanks for your time!

Not to pester, but pointer or two or more could really help. The edits I've made - the helm additions to the heads and the ears of the hair - aren't showing up, in game. Should I assume that's because I haven't merged the meshes? How do I merge them in Nifskope?

Thanks!

I'm certainly no expert at the topic, but I would advise you to look at the nodes' names in NifSkope. If there are any inconsistencies (like nodes being named hair in a head mesh or vice versa), then they need to be renamed for the game to recognize them correctly.

Hm, I'll keep an eye on that. Thanks for the reply.

So, if I want the meshes to merge, I'll need to rename the helms, so their path is the same as the heads in the body folder? So, I just make a copy of a helm nif, give it the same directory as the heads and body parts, then copy paste that into the head nif I want? I'm going to try it!

Well, I know what I'm doing in Nifskope, now. Here's a http://img847.imageshack.us/i/screenshot0b.png/ of what I achieved, thanks to the Nifskope forum.

Thank you. I wasn't copying the meshes properly. I needed to make them "children" of the face mesh, or whatever. So I did that, and with little effort, I've made heads like these:

Is http://img837.imageshack.us/i/screenshot4gx.png/ a respirator or a mask to stop him from eating his own hand?
A http://img225.imageshack.us/i/screenshot3cz.png/ should have an eye-patch (or maybe several eyes, eh?)

I made a couple hairs from the Ordinator and Necrom Ordinator plumes. I still have that stray texture attached to the plume, which I circled in the OP. I don't think Nifskope can help me with that.

I'm messing with armors, now. What a time drain! :teehee:
