SPOILER ALERT: Life as a Wastelander

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:20 pm

You find yourself as a nineteen-year-old boy who has just successfully defeated one of the most powerful military factions in history, but now, the battle is over. With the dust settled, you realize that all you have to your name are your weapons and your home. With Dogmeat by your side, you stare into the empty wasteland, and a feeling of listlessness fills you as you ponder your options.

What will you do?

My actions-

I'd immediatley seek psychological help for the PTSD that I would soon face. After that, I would settle down either near Vault 101, or in Megaton. I would stay away from marriage for a long time, and seek higher education instead. With a gun on my back and a diploma in my hand, I would continue to serve the Wasteland in all its trials and tribulations.

So based on FO3 wasteland?

Wasteland in general I would be explorer, search the wasteland. If I was the character form FO3. I would try to teach the people of the DC wasteland how to grow crops then take off to some place better.

Poll need "Other" as an option.

Assuming I learned a couple things that would help me survive this long, I probably would have settled down in a settlement somewhere, or establish one of my own, and probably run a cafe.

But let's be honest, life without coffee? SUICIDE IS THE ONLY REASONABLE RESPONSE.

where's the option to not defeat "one of the most powerful military factions in history"? :stare:

What I would do then, failing any attempt to join the Enclave, is be a slaver and hang out with my good pal Eulogy Jones. Hey someone's got to do it, right? The money's good, what can I say??

I would find a building in DC to call my own. I would aid those who helped bring peace to the region. I would continue to fight against raiders and mutants. However, I would also attempt to create some semblance of a life to call my own. I would feel free to indulge myself in the fineries that I earned with my blood, sweat, tears, innocence, and youth, indulge in the oddities that differentiate me.

But in the end, with no other skills other than my nearly impeccable combat skills, I would find for myself a lifetime of war. It would be war with a purpose and by the time I died, I fully expect to have helped establish peace and governance to the region. But I would never find peace within myself.

Well chasing after slaves does work up a sweat, you tend to get a bit flustered. :blush2:

I suppose though if I couldn't be a slaver I'd take up a quiet life at the nuka cola factory....eating nothing but Nuka Lurk meat and drinking nothing but Nuka Cola. Then given the detremental effects on one's health that this type of diet ensures, I doubt I would live to see 21, but it would be a damn good year or two!! :disco:

I'd be a merchant, supplying stuff to ANYBODY and EVERYBODY for the right price or service. If a slaver wants 3 AK-47s, they best pay me 1000 bottle caps or a free slave or I'm leaving. I'd probably recruit my friends as my guards since they're pretty darn good shots and maybe be a part time doctor or engineer. Of course, I will make nearly 0 enemies because I'm simply a supplier to everybody. If the slavers and the Temple of Union are having a war, I'll supply both sides with guns and ammunition so long as they pay the right price. "I'm just a poor family with no money" won't fly, you pay up, or no guns for you.

After all the events of FO 3 take place I would tell Lyon that she is my only hope for a future.
After she tells me no it would never work I would wonder out, and maybe make my way back to Megaton.
After a living a few years maybe hitting things off with Moira I would soon see that the nothing in life would ever compare to the life I once lived, and the nightmares would steadily get worse, and worse.
After second guessing myself on a few of the people I had killed... I would start getting more, and more jumpy.
Did the Queen Bee, and Robot Man really deserve die for there actions?
Was I in the right helping that Cyborg... steal himself?
I should have taken the time to bury Dogmeat when he died protecting me from that Deathclaw ambush outside of Old Olney...
And Fawkes... Poor Fawkes. At least I made those Enclave bastards pay.

Standing staring out at the sunset I am shocked out of my thoughts by a friend/loved one.
I turn flashing back to fighting back to a surprise attack of mutants out on a lonely stretch of road.
I snap out of it as my finger about pulls the trigger.
As tears fill my eyes I relies I no longer have a reason to live.

My friend tries to stop me, but they are to late as I turn the gun around, and remove another threat to the Wastelands just like I did so many years before.

Silly Enclave meathead...what else did you think they were for? You better think twice before accepting a drink from Mr. Jones there. I wouldn't trust someone who brainwashes people.

Don't come crying to me and the other MILFs at our cafe when you've been volunteered for his next feature film.

My plan was get the ghouls to give me a suite in tenpenny towers, move everyone out of bigtown to tenpenny towers, that place is a death trap and start a settlement there, and spend my time directing settlers to tenpenny towers and pull up all the rails and start rolling out a rail line to as far to dc as possible to transport water and trade. War, war may never change, but the fight for survival never does either.

Submit a request to GNR to create a radio about my exploits. Then retire to Tempenny Tower and wait for the "Lone Wanderer" to release rauaging feral ghouls on the place causing my death.

I would be a bounty hunter/explorer/helpful individual... I'd protect towns that need me, search for hidden treasures, and find bounties for those who hire me...

If it were quite literally myself I'd probably die while out in the wastes. I don't think I'd have what it takes.

Keep in mind the OP said this is after you have done the events in FO 3... Thus you are a near godlike killing machine at this point.

If I did somehow defeat a powerful military organization, I would travel to the west coast, extend my hand to the NCR and get them back up to their feet. If not I'd be an explorer and sell the stuff I find to towns and settlements on the road, maybe start a colony of my own. Who knows?

Honestly, after all that dross that I'd have gone through, I'd pay for a suite at Tenpenny Tower and just live a quite life of retirement.

I would become a slaver, nothing like having the freedom to [censored], steal, beat, kill whatever/whoever you want, giving you the feeling of being superior while you humiliate those whose lifes are being destroyed MOUAHAHAHAHAHA !!!! :mohawk: :chaos:

Of course, I would definitely run like the coward I am if I see some retribution in form of a bigger armed group than mine.
Then, if I reach the old age, I would try to kill whoever saw my face when I was "in duty" (either slave or co-worker) and try to go very far away to a town where I would pass for some old goody mercenary looking for retirement, hell, I would even tell the children to call me " Good Ol' Uncle Billy"...

Yeah, that sounds liek a plan, BRING IT ON NUCLEAR WINTER !!! :disguise:

I probably would to... After a fast paced life of exploring and such... It'd be nice to just sit back and wait for old age once you hit about 50 years old.
