Trying to come up with a good name for a fictional drug

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:27 pm

OP I sent you a PM with a good drug name. Can't post it here though, I would have to warn myself.......

Don't worry we won't hit the report button. I'm curious in what you came up with.

I'd go with TTP, but that sounds like a chemical that messes with the respiratory systems of arthropods.

Totally not your initials.

Orb(it)?
Mirth?
Glee?
Blithe?

(The last three are all synonyms of happiness )

So I suggest Veeno.

Spazz -a speed variant that leaves people with serious shakes
Glow -warm fuzzy feeling drug popular with hippy types, to bad the come down tends to leave you homocidal
Mickey's -a hallucinogenic that makes thoughts seem real. Burns the nervous system eventually.
Skrew -dunno what it does, best to stay away
compound P-17/delta aka 'the ladder' -a combat drug. don't mess with it
Stringy -Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, street variant and way more potent

that's a grab from my old cyberpunk days. Use freely, just don't abuse B)

Fictional drugs always sound really stupid. They give the feel of those made-up street names for drugs that police officers and parents make up.

So I suggest Veeno.

This.

A better way to get a fictional drug name is to make up a chemical, then shorten it or abbreviate it. Call it Methylsergic acid diethabinol.

I dunno what's worse, thread necromancy or the fact that as soon as I saw the title I remembered it from February...

If you think a post is out of line, report it. Half a page of spam is a little more disruptive than dragging up an old thread, eh?
