Laser sight mod on weathered 10mm pistol

Post » Fri Jan 01, 2010 9:58 pm

Hi all,

I pre-ordered the game and got the item bonuses. As I progress through the game, I do run into bugs similar to fallout 3 but I have come to tolerate those.

However, for this bug I would really appreciate it if someone could address and resolve this issue.

I bought a laser sight mod and put it on my weathered 10mm pistol. After the mod when I pull it out in first person the screen is white and in third person the character is engulfed in a exclamation point.

The gun is not in the character's hand and when I shoot, there is no sound.

Could someone please either help me fix this or provide an update that would address this issue.

Thanks!

I believe we were not supposed to be able to add weapon mods to Unique Weapons, leading to the thought that there is no model for the gun with the sight.

Yeah I heard a lot people were having that problem too.
Good thing I check the forums before I try the weapon mods on the weathered 10mm pistol.
Add weapon mods to normal guns only.

I experienced this very same bug. I simply wanted to attach a silencer to my Weathered 10mm Pistol, and the screen becomes all white, no gun is shown being held in the character's hand, there is no reticule on screen. I can fire the gun still, but I am unsure if there is any affect because without the reticule I did not hit anything. There's a good chance that nothing was actually being fired. This was such a disappointment because I am playing very 'lost in the wasteland' style and it is the only mod I have come across. Would rather use a loud Weathered 10mm then a silenced normal version. The recent 1.01 patch did nothing to correct this. New Vegas is going to need so many patches before it can be considered playable.

I think I figured out that much from this experience. Thanks for the excellent advice.

If we were not supposed to add mods on the gun then the game wouldn't let me add the mod on the gun now would it?

All I am asking for is a patch or a reply from the developers that they are working on it or that they simply don't care.

Found this on another site, so it's not my writing:

Contrary to the thoughts of 99.9999% of the people on the internet, the fact that there are no programed textures for a modded Weathered 10mm Pistol is NOT a bug. The fact that the game allows you to mod it in the first place IS a bug.

You see, absolutely no Unique Weapon can be modded. The Weathered 10mm Pistol is a Unique Weapon. As such, it is not supposed to accept mods. The mods are meant only for the regular 10mm Pistol.

Thank you for that insight.... Now I'm an ignorant [censored]...haha

I guess they aren't gonna bother to fix this [censored]. Oh well that gun is a pea shooter compared to what I have now.

The only fix for it is to make it so you can't mod it. It's unique, and should not have the ability to be modded in the first place.
