Mr. Cliffracer

Post » Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:07 am

(I searched but couldn't find a "quest suggestion" thread. If there is one, please direct me)

You enter the city of Whiterun for exploration. Upon entering a distressed woman runs up to you. "Please, visitor help!". You reply "What's the problem?". She responds, "My husbad, he, he had a skooma overdose. It has permantly affected his mind. He, he...believes he is a cliff racer." Your character, a bit confused asks, "...How is this a problem". "He believes he can fly, and is about to jump off of a mountain!" (Could be a house/tower also)

She gives you directions to him and you find your way to him. When you reach him, you try to convince him to stop his craze. Unfortunately, he will not agree. He says, "I will fly to Vvardenfell tomorrow at noon!". You're now on a time limit, and backtrack your way to his wife. You inform her his choice. She asks, "Please take this key and go into his room. See if anything there can help you, I beg you!" She scurries off to her husband.

You enter the house and search his room. You open up a locked cupboard with the key. There are various items, most importantly, a ring of levitation. The quest does not tell you anything when you take it. (no holding hands!) So you make your way back up to the husband. He is about to jump! You now have two choices. Let him jump or convince him the ring will help him. (Unclear on what to say/how to convince)

If he takes the ring, he will jump only to fall to ground level and levitate. If you don't give him the ring, he jumps to his death.

Rewards:
He lives - Money
He dies - Special shoes that increase jumping height

So, thoughts?

Quite amusing actually. Though i would give a slowfall ring or potion so you can convince him he can't fly properly and he should go back to his wife.

He lives: He gives you those special shoes since he won't be needing them
He dies: You get little money from the wife as a thanks for at least trying

Funny. But I would let the fool jump and keep the ring for myself. We don't need more cliff racers out there.

If I let him die I get special shoes and a levitation ring. Cool.

Haha yeah, guess the "good" side reward should have a bit more.

When I first read "cliffracer" and "he thinks he can fly", I immediately thought the husband must be that guy in Cheydinhal... You know the one.
When I read "ring" (I was skimming :P ) I thought "Fargoth's ring".
Makes the quest much better in my mind. XD
Now just make an appearance of M'Aiq somewhere in there.

Yeah, it should be a slowfall ring, not levitation. Permanent levitation sounds pretty powerful.

No, the reward for him living is you hear from some distance "by Azura, by Azura, BY AZURA", you become the local hero and get a follower for the enitre game.

Or the Cliff Racers flea from him, in Despair, but he wants to FOLLOW, so he goes all the way to the next Skyrim border - High Rock - but ends up lost in one of the many twisted dungeons of Daggerfall.
