I think it sounds like a fun idea. Sure, slavery isn't legal in Cyrodiil, but there are still enough Dunmer around to feel skittish, or even paranoid. IMO there's lots of room for character development, since being a slave will have had some effect on him -- and that particular Argonian dealt with it in such a clever way ^_^ He could be bitter or hopeful, or even be having trouble accepting that he's free for good now. Lots of directions to take.
I remember one guy couldn't be freed, he's in a cave west of Molag Mar. Even though it was just faulty coding, the fact that he stayed put always gave my Muse several ideas about who he could be. He could be fun to roleplay too.
I haven't immigrated any Morrowind NPCs, but did start Oblivion with an Orc whose adventures started in Seyda Neen. He never did do the MQ, and I wasn't at all surprised when he reached Cyrodiil and told the Blades where to put their invitation :laugh:
