Won't It be nice if brink unwrites the rules.

2010 has been a very bad year for Shooters. They all feel the same! They all seem to want to be the same and are trying to capture the same audience.
Soon there will be droves of COD, MOH, BFBC players on these forums asking for ridiculous changes to be made to a game that is not even out yet, asking for:
Tanks
Nukes
More players
Bigger maps
Less recoil
Quicker kills
etc....

And I hope that SD stick to their guns and make this game totally different.

Things I'm most excited about:
8v8's that will always be full. (8v8 is the perfect amount of players IMO)
Small maps.
Changing and varied objectives.
No leaderboards.. Thats the best thing ever!
No kdr. KDR has spoiled most modern shooters because it makes people that cheat and boost and camp look better than they are.
Ai that steppes in while your AFK. (idle)
8 player coop.
Mixing mp coop and ofline
The fact that there are no massive weapons
The fact there are no vehicles
The 4 chars that look on paper to be very balanced and also team orientated.
The fact that if there are no engineers the game will offer a small reward to the player that changes class.
I don't think I have looked forward to a game as much as I am this one.. And I really hope it lives up to my expectations!

We know. That's why we're here and all Cod- and BF-like ideas got trashed. No need to make yet another topic about this subject.

I'm a big fan of ETQW, but made a big mistake buying BF:BC2, so this game is making me want Brink even MORE.
The things you said you think are the best, I think many many people think the same thing too. If they'll offer a longterm support and maps to be released each xx months, then this game will grow more popular by the day!
Hail Splash Damage and Brink, Hail!

I've played COD 4 and WAW then MW2 and BF:BC2 and really i got frustrated with MW2 very fast but WAW and 4 weren't so bad and I really like BC2 but I think this game will impact gaming greatly specially shooters. I have been waiting for this game since it was announced and am still happily waiting for them to release it, sometimes I really wish they would just release it but Beggars can't be Choosers....

Oh and no sniping obsession, praise and an overabundant amount of chocolate lava crunch cake should be delivered to the development team solely for this aspect alone.

Well first, I was under the impression Brink weapons on average would have LESS recoil (aside from the obvious light rifles and a few other exceptions I may not know about) than games such as CoD and BFBC, so why would people be asking for less?

That aside, I myself am a frequent BFBC2 player, but that doesn't mean I'm petitioning for anything on that list. On the contrary, Brink's differences from BFBC are part of the incentive that piqued my interest for this game in the first place - after all, why would I want another game that plays almost exactly the same as one I already own? With Brink, when I feel like having intimate fights or completing a variety of objectives, I'll play it, and for those times I feel like leveling a building with an Abrams or flying an Apache, I'll have BFBC.

As for nukes, including those in MW2 was the stupidest thing IW has ever done, and that's including how ridiculously overpowered they decided to make noobtubes.

And I hope that SD stick to their guns and make this game totally different.

I agree with everything - ESPECIALLY the no leaderboards part, my friends and I thrilled about their exclusion. However, I am curious about what you mean by no massive weapons. Do you mean no grenade launchers (which they have) or freaking artillery strikes?

Also... this topic has kind of been done to death...

"...just please let me play another shooter where I can have more weapons than eyeballs where if I get bored I can clear out an entire room with the [Name censored] I was saving for the next boss fight where I can run out into the open with the tactics of a suicide bomber and suffer no damage that can't be fixed by sellotaping a first aid kit to my chest"

I know Brink isn't that game, but I'm sick of the realism as well. Let's have a new rulebook!

I am pretty excited my self to play a shooter with such different style of play compared to all the big shooters. I can guarantee that the game will not be changed into a COD. SD themselves have said this game is different from the rest, my only concern would be if the KDR COD players decide to play this game by their own rules and mess up the whole objective-based teamwork play.

I just honestly hope that SD can make this game the Australium Egg that everyone is expecting it to be with no [censored] kills from nowhere

The OP has a valid concern though, considering Killzone 3 is getting a COD makeover. KZ3 was at the top of my list of games to get until reports from the beta testers revealed that the game has next to no recoil in the guns, the aim assist is way too high and the health is too low..... all of which are resulting in controls and gameplay that resemble COD more than KZ and I am furious at GG for turning KZ3 into a noob twitch shooter. They have four months to save that game from damnation but if they don't then at least I still have Brink to look forward too. Just hope I can customize my characters to look like Helgast and ISA soldiers.

The main difference is that SD has intended to "rewrite the rules" from the very beginning with Brink. Find some of the original interviews, and compare them to the most recent interviews, and their goals have not changed at all. The devs are just as bored with CoD and games that emulate CoD as you are.
