Ok well my second favorite race of beings in ES are the Orcs. Though I have never heard much about them beyond, They are strong typically being the strongest race in Tamriel (Which is not apparent in their base strength rating...), they are good armorers , they inhabited (from what Ive understood from reading many books) a great deal of Tamriel before Redgaurds and Nords came, and that they were changed when Boethia changed an Aedra into Malacath, thus changeing the orsimer into orcs.

But in relation to the other Races that is very little... I mean they ARE mer, so why do they not exhibit mer-like traits?

Mer-like traits such as?

According to UESP, "the Orcs were supposedly created when the Daedric Prince Boethiah assumed the form of Aldmer God Trinimac, transforming him into Malacath and the Orsimer into Orcs. Some stories even say Boethiah ate Trinimac."

Just like the Dunmer. Their features were supernaturally changed.

Um longer life?, interest in the mysterious and superior intelligence? Proficient in magik related abilities? or even character or personality traits, and the um, Dunmer were apparently only changed in appearance, not persona.

I mean WHO are they?, how are they organized as a society? Why are they great armorers? (what societal drive has made them great armorers?) Why are they more proficient in more man-ish traits?

Mer really don't live that much longer than men do. Altmer live the longest thanks to their quest to never change, but even then they aren't naturally immortal (or even have several thousand year life-spans) like in other fictions. The only thing that mentions short life-spans for the Orcs is the story about Shor throwing Orkey's curse onto the Orcs, we really don't have any good indicator how long they live.


Gortwog seems quite interested in the mysteries of the world. He had a hand in Numidium's reawakening in the Illiac, as well as his push towards worshiping Trinimac. Also, as has been mentioned, several prominent Necromancers have been orcs. Also the orc shamans in Daggerfall were one of the stronger spell casters in the game. I think much of the current, although previous may be more accurate, attitude towards the orcs is just a result of profiling by the other races. They are expected to be savages, are treated like savages, so most of them act like savages.

Oh here we go...

Before they changed the Orsimer were the Altmer that followed Trinimac to stop the Velothi exodus. When Boethia ate Trinimac his people became the Orsimer. So they changed from Altmer-following-Trinimac to Orsimer not from Orsimer to Orc.

They have the typical pointed ears that mer have and that's about it, but that's also just about everything they need to have in common because when Trinimac became Malacath they became degraded outcasts.
