Wierd into movie glitch Vista/nV 8700

Post » Sun Jan 10, 2010 1:13 pm

Hello,

I purchased FO3: GOTY on Steam. After launching it and starting a new game, I'm seeing the following behavior: the game immediately starts to play some sort of intro movie. I can't make out entirely what I'm seeing (because of this glitch), but the first thing you see is some sort of glowing bit of Tech inside a glass dome of some sort - sort of like a vaccuum tube.

The movies starts to zoom and pan, then change to like a hula girl on a dashboard of a vehicle I think.

Anyhow, the problem is, imagine if you will that the screen/movie is divided into about 12 or 15 square 'tiles'. 3 rows with 4 or 5 tiles per row. The top row of tiles mostly updates in real time, so that the top of the movie is basically ok. The second/middle row of tiles updates a little bit too slow, so that they get out of synch a little bit with the movie. The bottom row of tiles updates *extremely* slowly, so that they are completely totally out of synch with the movie.

Anyone heard of this before, and know of any solution? I've already checked to make sure I have the latest drivers installed. One thing I noticed in this forum is that, in the list of supported video cards, *every* recent nVidia chipset *except for* the 8700 series is listed as supported. Is the 8700 somehow unique among nVidia chips in that it's incompatible even though all the others are?
