What I do to piss off BoS?

Post » Sun Jan 10, 2010 10:26 am

Ok I hope there will be no issue with me not marking most of my statements with the spoiler tag, I figure the "may contain spoilers" should be enough.

Anyways I went in with the intent to kill the BoS. Well they give me a proposition which results me in running and picking up 3 holodisks. Ok I run around pick them all up but I also pick up the BoS powerarmor with the hopes that I can be taught to wear it and then I can take and turn on them and kill them. Well I go back to their hide out and the moment I walk in the door their all red like I did something wrong.

Surely me entering the room with the BoS power armor in my inventory shouldnt have turned them hostile would it?

I tried waiting 24 hours after dropping the power armor but it didnt make a difference.

Just wondering because its pretty much impossible to take and massacre the base without some good armor like that. But with this crazy new style auto save that doesnt keep a seperate auto save each time, I will have to go back an hour pretty much and redo it all if it does turn out to be them becoming hostile due to me entering their fort with power armor in my inventory.

I do have to say though on a side note this DT is nice. Regular bullets just bounce off with not much damage but the armor piercing sniper rounds wow like a hot knife through butter if they stand still long enough.

you pretty much said it yourself - you "stole" the BOS powerarmour, so now you are the enemy.

It wasnt so much that I stole it, they were already dead so I looted their bodies. Would have done that in any case if I saw them there. Guess next time I load the game up Ill load the last hard save which was about 1 hour 10 mins earlier and redo it all. Just hope there is the ability to be trained to wear power armor.

It's all to do with your reputation with factions. You looted a dead paladin, so you got negative standing with the BOS. Same would apply to any other faction in the game (I'm guessing). To stay on a factions good side, try not to do anything to p**s them off.

If you picked up the armor (stole) something when another NPC was watching you, you will get attacked. Says that too in the manual. Sometimes it feels like NPCs have eyes on the back of their heads... =/

PS: Reread your post. I did pickup armor from one of the dead paladins at one of the 3 locations. I did NOT get aggroed. Perhaps it's a bug.

Sounds like a bug to me, as one of the ways to meet the BoS (the way I used) is to find a dead one and use their password on the bunker intercom. You get kudos for reporting the discovery of a dead Paladin too.

However ROnnie got me into the base...
The fight at the end of her PQ was intense though...
But I got a bunch of good stuff from the fight..

Oh! I never had the armor in my inventory when I went in the base...it was on ROnnie....thats right.

Poor guys looks like someone dropped a wall on em...heheh

Thats the thing, when I picked up the armor there was no pop up telling me that my reputation with the BoS changed. Im going to play again but this time mark the location of the last power armor equipped palidin and leave the repaired armor on him then go back hopefully that will change things.

Would really like to get the power armor training if its a possibility.

Sounds like a bug to me.

If you're looking for Power Armor Training I'm pretty sure Arcade's companion quest leads to finding an NPC who can give you PA training.

Ok, I found out what happened. After I killed the Ranger in the bunker I took his uniform and equipped it after I was allowed to leave when I came back I was wearing NCR ranger clothing that has to be why they became hostile instantly.
