If you want to get really fancy, you could consider adding something wing-like, like Umaril's feathers. Though that might be straying a little too close to the Ayleid style.

It's official from the Knights of the Nine expansion to Oblivion. The gold figure is Umaril. His armor is supposed to depict wings, alluding to Auriel and dracochrysalis I would assume (despite being a Meridia worshipper). Granted, he's an Ayleid, not a Thalmor.

I'd say banners with geneaologies and long lists of ancestors back towards the dawn would be pretty suitable.
