what would the elder scrolls be like if it picked up after morrowind and oblviion and skyrim didnt happen?
any ideas for good plot whole from games before hand that never got delt with?
im giving up on elder scrolls series and want to just mod morrowind to continue the series for myself.
maby an adventure to bring the dwemer back, maby a deadric lord, or even the effects of what destroying the heart really does to tamriel.

I would love to see the Dwemer back. Yagrum survived, maybe some others did too, sheltered somewhere. Maybe this could be a reconsideration of the "mystery of the dwarves" quest. A new, more complete, translation of the egg of time and the hanging gardens. Maybe the hanging gardens actually exist with the Dwemer remnants. Maybe this could be a new world space along the lines of the Zone mod but a little more lore friendly in design.

Well, as even Vivec doesn't know where the Dwemer went they would have had to find a very good hiding place...

Seeing that the empire is already displaying cracks in Morrowind, the eventual collapse that you see in Oblivion and Skyrim would likely occur even without the Daedric invasion of Oblivion and the end of the Septim line. A Morrowind with little or no Imperial control might emerge as a new, independent kingdom or a patchwork quilt of miniature states based around the Houses.

the imperial colapse would be interesting, especially with the nerevarine promised to defend morrowind from its invaders from other lands. would be a good continuing quest after tribunal with tamriel rebuilt.

I do wonder how the prophecy of the Nerevarine returning Morrowind to glory can be reconciled with the later idea that causing Vivec to lose divine power resulted in the ministry of truth falling and destroying Vvardenfell. I suppose that Azura must be really just very monastic at heart and so for her a return to the nomadic Ashlander ways is a spiritual glory well worth the Dunmers' loss of worldy prestige.

Azura must know what happened to the Dwemer. She seems to have been heavily involved from the beginning.

But back to here:

A continuation mod about the Dwemer would have to trigger only after the completion of the Main Quest and Tribunal. Once Dagoth Ur's control over the principal Dwemer sites is broken, we could start to encounter Dwemer in the various ruins, coming back to claim their heritage. My idea is that using the heart banished them to a kind of Oblivion plane of their own making, akin to Mankar Camoran's Paradise. Destroying the heart breaks the chain that holds them there, allowing them to begin returning to their old strongholds. Of course, the PC would gradually discover this. There would then be conflict between the dwemer and the other inhabitants of morrowind.

interesting point. i always felt the heart would have more impact as it was the heart of a god that is the planet.

I think that bethesda should do like some other game developers do, continue to work on their previous projects (until a certain point of course).

Just because you release a new game in a series doen't mean that you have to drop the previous games - as they are all their own games. Unless the story is tied to the previous game and starts where the last one follows of course.

Just because they released Skyrim doesn't mean they cant release new content and what not for Morrowind and Oblivion - some people like Morrowind better then they like Skyrim. So unless all they do with new titles is basicly give out new content with upgraded graphics perhaps and don't change how the game plays then they should not stop working on their previous games so soon - if the game plays differently, then its a different game.

I'm not sure if I should mention other games made by other companies or not, so lets just say that there are other game series where the first game are still getting new expansions on a regular basis even after the second game in the series have been out for 8 years itself.

There's no rule against mentioning other games or companies if it helps illustrate a point about the topics in these forums.
