Consistent Crashing in Exteriors

Hi. I'm new here, so forgive me if I don't know all the rules and customs....

Oblivion has been crashing. A lot. As in, much more than the typical amount. I've noticed a few patterns to it. It seems to crash much more in exterior cells. It seems to do fine when I just stand still, but whenever I start walking around, (entering a city, wandering the countryside, and especially going near Oblivion Gates,) it crashes after about 20 steps, depending on how close I am to anything interesting. It may or may not have to do with the Oblivion Gate weather, since I can't seem to anywhere without it, even if I try to force the weather to change (although I have had a weird glitch where the weather becomes clear right next to a Gate).

My PC is able to run Skyrim beautifully on Uber settings, and I've set the LAA flag to let Oblivion use over 2 GB, so I can't really see it being a hardware issue. I think I'm also running Oblivion in compatibility mode for XP.

I use Wrye Bash, OBMM, BOSS, the works. I don't know of any conflicts that would cause this crashing, but as you can see I'm a bit of a mod-aholic, so who knows. I've also tried using WeOPCS, but that was pretty short-lived. It did stop my game from crashing (for about ten minutes), but it also disabled A LOT of very important features (looting creatures (NPCs were fine, strangely), a lot of icons, the esc menu(!)...). I ended up uninstalling it pretty quickly.

I have two major games going, both with about 100 hours poured in, so I would rather not have to lose them. I'm really only getting this problem in one game, but I'm having other problems in the other. In the other game, the game lags horribly (maybe 2 FPS...), except when I'm on a menu like the local map, and it crashes whenever I try to enter an interior cell. If it's of any interest, all of my saves for both games seem to be over 12 MB.

I've tried lowering the graphics down to more moderate settings, but I didn't notice any change. Probably the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is to reinstall the game, which I don't want to do if I can avoid it.

Anyway, sorry if I'm a bit wordy, but I really just want to play my game. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Reclaiming Sancre Tor, and Servant of the Dawn conflict in many ways, and are basically mutually exclusive. (don't run both.)

Salmo used to have a rep for causing odd crashes, not sure if that was ever really fixed or not.

Where do you have the game installed to? If it is in some flavor of Program Files folder, need to move it. (uinstall, reinstall)

Well, I have the game installed in My Documents, but I've moved it back and forth in order to run BOSS. I didn't know about RST and SotD though. I'll try deactivating one of them. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: Well, I've fixed it. I ended up disabling All Natural and Better Cities, and that seems to have fixed all of my problems. *sigh* Yaaaaay. <:\ I really liked those mods. I guess I'll try re-enabling them after the main quest.

So, new topic. Any ideas on why those mods would have caused problems?

I believe that was fixed in an optional package, but I could be wrong.

It's a mod confilct. You just need to find out which one is causing the problem
