Horde mode or related multiplayer

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2010 2:03 pm

Now I don't know if its a good idea or not, but I would like to see a multiplayer mode where you and 3 friends can join up and play some type of defense/survival game. Something related to the horde mode in gears or war. Basically what would happen is that each round gets harder and is full of different enemies (level 1 mole rats, level 50 deathclaws). For each kill in this mode you gain caps instead of XP and you can use these caps to buy from a huge store of pretty much every weapon possible. The gameplay is kind of like Operation Anchorage because each gun will have a set amount of ammo and you will not be able to pick up anything from dead bodies like Operation Anchorage. Instead, health and ammo dispensers will be found in different locations across the battlefield. The pip-boy will be replaces with the round info (round #, enemies left, ect.) and hot keys will be used for inventory management. You can only hold 4 weapons per game so you will have to choose wisely. However, once you purchase a gun for this "Horde" mode, you can use it in any game you want (aka it will not disappear after one game). Now I would only like this to happen because I think it would be a fun addition and it would give a nice touch to multiplayer.
(Please comment but also don’t bash me with insults about what a horrible idea it is.)

 never mind...

Not gonna happen. No multiplayer, no horde mode, no Gears of War 2 ripoffs.

There will not be any form of multiplayer in New Vegas. Post http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/976152-fallout-multiplayer-discussion-thread/ for discussion of multiplayer in future Fallout games.

I wish they'd add some kind of token multi-player so people could stop complaining about the lack of multi-player. While we're at it, you know what game needs multi-player? Braid.

Bah, why does everyone want to infect my favourite SINGLE PLAYER games with multiplayer and social-networking tie-ins? If you want Horde Mode, go play Gears of War. :stare:

But don't mind me, I'm just a crotchety old hermit who doesn't like playing with others. :P

Here's an idea, make friends with a really good modder, and ask him or her to make it as an add-on, because it will never be in a Fallout game without a modder making it.

NO to Multiplayer!

NO to silly side games that are never going to get built anyway.

NO to yet more people asking for multi-player! It has been asked 738917401927834019374 times and the answer is Always the same.

YES to a great single-player game in the Fallout tradition.

Thank you for replying nicely to the OP and providing the link. The same cannot be said about some of the others who replied. :stare:
