Add-ons installation problems

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2010 1:38 pm

I just purchased the two combo add-on discs, The Pitt/Operation: Anchorage and Broken Steel/Point Lookout, but for some reason they won't install. I hope I didn't just pay $10.00 each for two patches...

As such, I was able to get both patches to install. When I load up FO3, I saw the first, then second (later) patch had been applied, but still neither game will install. I have the original PC/DVD version of Fallout 3 (non-GOTY version) and both add-on discs are PC/DVD as well.

Help?

How about explaining what you mean by "wont install"? What happens? Any error messages? What is going on!?

Probably should have added that, huh?

After I successfully install the patch, I attempt to install the game. According to the installation instructions, after I install the patch, I should run the fallout 3 DCL Pitt and Anchorage.exe, and that there should be a two letter prefix denoting the language. Assuming a US or UK option. Unfortunately, the only language option I have is for the patch. The only options I have on either disc are:

Autorun note (notepad)
EN Fallout 3 DCL Pitt and Anchorage (application)
Fallout 3 icon (icon)
Fallout 3 icon (Patch/US v1.4.0.6)
Fallout 3 icon (patch/UK v.1.4.0.6)

After installing the patch, The game will start, and I have the option of continuing/loading/starting. I accessed the Data files using the original fallout 3 disc, and the DCL isn't listed.

I've tried running the EN Fallout 3 DCL Pitt and Anchorage (application) but it only locks up the PC. The Windows Task Manager indicates the program is not responding. I've tried this multiple times with the same result.

Nothing I've tried has resulted in installation of either of the add-ons

I'm one bobble head and one Nuka-Cola Quantum away from finishing up with FO3. Would someone please help me to get the add-ons installed?

Not sure if it would help, but you might try posting your DXDiag notes.

Additionally, you can contact technical support (info can be found within the manual for the game and add-ons).

All the online support proved useless. When I called the tech support line, I spoke with someone that knew what to do.

The ultimate resolution was to copy the contents on both discs into a folder I made for that purpose on my desk top. Once done, I was able to activate the EN file(s) that installed the content.

Good luck to anyone else trying to work through this issue.
