How do I get the game pad to work?

Post » Wed Jan 13, 2010 6:00 am

I have bought a Logitech 310 game controller. I am trying to use it for Oblvion. How do I get it to work? All I can do is move forward and back and side ways with the left thumb stick but I can not look up/down left or right. I noiticed I all the other buttons are not mapped out. Ok, I can figure out how to do that, but what I don't understand is how do I get the right thumbstick to look left right up or down.

Sorry if this is not the right place to put it, I am not sure where it should go.

Any help or advice would be apreciated.

Besides installing the software that came with the controller, I believe you have to have joystick enabled in the oblivion.ini file.

in the ...\Documents\mygames\oblivion\Oblivion.ini file insure that busejoystick=1

the games own controls are a bit buggy especially the left thumb stick sometimes or never working and theres no any trigger mapping or number wheel; I use http://stashbox.org/v/969775/Xpadder.v2010.06.03.Retail.7z but if you wanto start working out the ingame controlls, can map the buttons selecting each of them and pressing esc. Youve only got 10 funtions to work so cant map everything. So if using xpadder, first make a photo of your logitech with the same layout as http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1526/xbox360wirelesscontroll.png sized 512x256 and save it as 24bit BMP, then when you get to the pink screen, add the photo there to continue

Thanks Nissan, I was able to get it to work with xpadder. I wasn't sure what you ment with taking a pic, but I got it to work. Thank you very much, now I can start replaying Oblivion on the PC now instead of the 360. :D

sure, yea you dont need a picture to make a template/profile, but it helps having a visual representation. If http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41skCL9uNHL.jpg is the same controller youve got copy that (its 500x328) open it in windows paint, enlarge to 110% and crop the top and bottom to 256 and the sides to 512 wide, save it as 24-bit Bitmap (BMP) and open that in xpadder, so you can drag the corresponding funtions the same spots on the photo. Theres a ton information built into the application if you click the question marks, but otherwise not much help unless you buy the program for access to the forums
