im very worried about summon spells...

if I'm a master, my summon should kill at least a few things before it dies. This problem in Oblivion had to do with leveled enemies though. I agree with raising the summon limit again, but you'll need to rework companion AI. You cant have summons and companions accidentally hitting each other or you and then going hostile against each other.

Didn't have trouble with my Storm Atronach

I agree with the topic starter. Summoning svcked in Oblivion. First of all, you could not have a creature for like 2 minutes, and second of all the creatures you summoned was not even as tough as the same creatures in the wilderness/caves/ruins. So the "Summon Skeleton Champion" was not as strong as the real Skeleton Champion in the dungeons. WTF? you play a magic oriented character and fights a powerfull creature, and you cant wait for the thrill that you get when you buy the summoning spell for that creature, only to find out that it isn't as powerfull as the one you fought.

The summons in oblivion and morrowind both dissapointed me to no end. They are completely uninspired.

I didn't like the way i was limited to either Daedra of Undead, it didnt fit with all character types. Whatever happened to being able to summon giant spiders, bears, floating magical weapons, Swarms of killer insects or amorphouse piles of living goo? Even real life animals like wolves, bears, birds etc.

I hated the summoned weapons too. They shouldnt always be Daedric. I prefer the idea of summoning a weapon made out of pure magical energy, that looks like a glowing mass of light.

As for multiple summons, I wouldnt mind them, but I wouldnt want to be able to sumon more than 3 at once.

You just gave me an idea. How about give the player the ability to bound an item to your magic knowledge? Then you could summon that exact item whener you want? As you say, summoning only daedric weapons get old, but it would be cool if I could drop a weapon in my house, and then summon it whenever I need it in a ruin/cave.

Indeed, or even just the ability to choose the asthetic of the summoned items through the spell making altar?

I really like the idea of your magicka getting stunned by as much as the spell cost, it wouldn't regenerate with potions/stones.

If the new engine can handle huge battles better, without loading lots and lots, then the mass summon would be neat. Maybe do a spell like this
Name: "Summon Army"
Effect:
Summon (8) Skeletons, Power 50%, 30 Seconds, on self
Summon (1) Skeleton Champion, Power 50%, 30 Seconds, on self

The Power of the Summoned creatures (50%), means their HP and attacks are down to 50% of their maximum, making the spell cost much less that if it was 100% power.

personally I think conjuration needs a huge overhaul! In parts ( for both morrowind and oblivion) it was over powered and in others useless!

The background for playable summoners/conjurers in Morrowind and Oblivion was based on Daedric summoners; not healers/priests, not beast mastery and not a large amount of necromancy. While I agree it's a bit repetative, it would be a little out of place to suddenly be able to start summoning holy light weapons and stuff; it just plain doesn't fit with the style of MW/OB summoners. They're intended to come off as somewhat dark in nature.

For enemies yes, but for the PC I want a little variation. Its like no matter how much power you put into a fire ball, it will always look like the first fire bolt spell you start out with. Variations in animations and visual effects would be hugely improve the magic system for me.

I think it would be cool if, as a master summoner, you could create armies of low level summons or a few high level ones or a single uber one :P like 20 goblins or 5 golems or a single lich or something like that. there'd have to be consequences and constraints of course so you can't summon armies all day but it would be cool if you could do it once in a while and have them help defeat another army or a boss or clear out a dungeon or something like that.
